Porky raised the question about AAU and it has been widely assumed that the rule change was made to limit the impact AAU coaches have on athletes.

Not to take anything away from Gayheart, she is an outstanding talent, but whifield is still the better player IMO. Whitfield did just sign a LOI to play in the Big East....

Hard to say, because Anderson was within one basket of a return trip to diddle....but I think it would be fair to say Anderson didn't meet expectations...I have a feeling the players and coaches would all tell you the same thing. The good news for Anderson is that the majority of their rotation last year was freshman and below. I think the role players will benifit having a year under their belt and if the three listed above play as advertised then Anderson should once again be dancing their way to diddle. It's not to come without a test...South Oldham should have a very strong team, probably as good or better then Anderson. Whitfield is the best player in the 8th (IMO) and her supporting cast is very strong as well. I figure those two teams will be ranked 1 and 2 most of the year and will both be ranked on the state level as well.

all of your elite players are still going to play AAU regardless of the rule change because that's where the college scouts are at. I do think it's a good change, whether you play aau or not, because it gives kids the chance to be in the gym at their schools with coaches providing instruction. More gym time means better players and a better quality of basketball around the state.

I have gotten to see Montgomery play a few times this summer....they are really looking solid. I would have to give them a slight edge over GRC at this point.

Im pretty sure had this NOT been in the regional tournament Anderson would have elected to bring the starters back. I know you have to be frustrated when you don't perform, but pressing 7th and 8th grade third stringers when the game is over with your varsity starters is a total classless move. What about the kids on the end of Oldhams bench?? Wouldn't they have enjoyed getting into a regional tournament game too?

Coaches vote. They can use any criteria they wish...Im sure some look at stats but most probably just go off of seeing the girls play. A lot of it is political...especially towards the bottom of the list with several coaches "lobbying" for their kids to be voted on the team. I think for the most part the top kids on the list deserve to be there, and certainly the ones that make the team at all are good players...just hard to believe some coaches actually think that _______________ is a better player then say Eriel Mckee (who didn't make the list) from Anderson County. I use her as an example just because that's the situation im closest too. If you are going to place all the players in the region in a pool there is NO WAY eriel isn't taken with one of the first 12 picks. And their are def a few more examples across the region as well. But really it's all for fun and debate IMO. Depending on which games you've seen your opinion of girls across the region could be very different.

If you were to put all the players in the region into a "draft" the first 12 picks would look much different then the 12 people selected for all-region. That being said I felt Gayheart or Whitfield were easily the two best players all-around this season in the region. Coming in as #1 and #3 on the list I would say the coaches did a pretty good job here. Most of the time the top of the list is pretty good...it's the bottom half that is normally more "political"

final. Anderson gets revenge for a loss just a few weeks ago. Entertaining game with a great atmosphere on Owens senior night.

I hear people say that regular season games are meaningless all the time....why is that? Don't use the excuse that the game was meaningless for either side. IMO if you lace them up and go on the court you check your excuses at the locker room door.

That was her 3rd game of the year where she hit 7 or more threes.
