Oldham looks to be improving and certainly could be a factor come march. A statement win over Anderson on friday might just be their coming out party. It will be interesting to see Lape vs Andersons front line. Anderson might have the toughest 4/5 combo in the region. Should be a great game.

surprised to see south so far ahead of Shelby and Owen considering they lost to both of them. They have played some better teams well though.... Also kind of surprising to see Walton at 2 ahead of Simon...same reasoning as above. Plus, Simon I would think he played a very comparable (if not better) schedule to Walton at this point. Will be anxious to see how these young teams finish out the year. Anderson plays an incredibly tough scheudle the rest of the way. I think these rankings show us one thing....that anybody who makes it to the Region this season can claim to have a chance.

whats going on with South Oldham?? Are they missing players or are they just struggling right now?

Im sorry if I offended anyone. I just didn't see the point in celebrating the fact that you're scoring a lot, if you are getting outscored. What college team was it that scored like 150 points a game years back. Loyola Marimount or something like that??

I guess the main problem is they play a style that lets the other team score more points then them.

Great Game

Good Game. Andeson point guard Destiny Stewart rimmed out a 3 with just under 15 secs left that would have given AC the lead. AC was led in scoring by Cann and Mckee who scored 11 apiece. The difference in this one was the free throw line. AC was 10-20, Butler wasw 13-14.

Lincoln continues the up and down play. This team is talented. I hope they can figure out whatever chemistry issues they must be having b/c they are talented enough to make a nice run this year....

Simon doesn't want the game called tight. They hand check as much as any team in the state. Anytime officials call it, they could be in trouble.

Updated rankings.... 1. Simon Kenton (4-0) Big win over district rival Walton-Verona highlights the week. A curiously close game with Dixie Heights was cause for some concern but the Pioneers keep the top spot. Back to back 8th region foes this week before pre-christmas tournament play begins 2. South Oldham (1-3) Great win this week against Highlands moves the Dragons up one spot. The record isn't sparkling, but the competition level has been very difficult. One one game against Fern Creek before they begin play in their tournament. 3. Anderson County (3-0) The Lady Bearcats took care of business against a rebuilding Spencer County team on Saturday. Now they set their sights on a huge matchup with bitter rival Shelby County. 4. Shelby County (1-3) Another 1-3 team that looks dangerous. Nobody expected them to beat Butler or Rockcastle this week, but staying in the game with a Butler team expected to contend in the 6th says a lot. Wells continues to improve and the experienced guards are playing solid. Games with Dunbar and Anderson this week. 5. Walton-Verona (6-1) How close are 1-5 in the 8th? 6 points seperates 1 from 5 at this point. My biggest concern with Walton- They don't play enough good teams. A quick look at the schdules of the top teams and Walton is way behind in terms of quality of opponents. Games this week vs Henry and Dayton. 6. Owen County (4-0) Nice win at Carroll highlights the week. Much like Walton, Owens strength of schedule will continue to make ranking them within the region very difficult. Two games they should win against Gallatin and Henry this week. 7. Carroll County (3-2) Tough losses to Walton and Owen this week. Light week as Carroll gets ready for a busy Holiday season. 8. Oldham County (4-3) Two easy victories this past week. Oldham has a chance to make a statement this week vs top ranked Simon Kenton.

Biggest game in the 8th region to date IMO (although the South/Shelby game gets an honorable mention). Looking forward to a detailed recap....
