8th Region Cantrall Rankings

Featured Replies

Just wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were on the rankings that came out today. I'm not sure about the order, but I do agree that it's very close.

8th REGION

1. Anderson Co. 70.5

2. Walton-Verona 68.6

3. South Oldham 67.6

4. Simon Kenton 64.5

5. Shelby Co. 60.3

6. Owen Co. 58.3

7. Oldham Co. 56.3

8. Gallatin Co. 52.3

9. Carroll Co. 51.0

10. North Oldham 49.8

11. Williamstown 45.5

12. Henry Co. 44.0

13. Grant Co. 42.7

14. Trimble Co. 38.2

15. Spencer Co. 32.7

16. Eminence 3.6

surprised to see south so far ahead of Shelby and Owen considering they lost to both of them. They have played some better teams well though....

Also kind of surprising to see Walton at 2 ahead of Simon...same reasoning as above. Plus, Simon I would think he played a very comparable (if not better) schedule to Walton at this point.

Will be anxious to see how these young teams finish out the year. Anderson plays an incredibly tough scheudle the rest of the way.

I think these rankings show us one thing....that anybody who makes it to the Region this season can claim to have a chance.

Still say Simon has the defense and the experience on their side. Wainscott - Brown - Ponzer have played very well to this point. Given their schedule and district / region play I am a little suprised.

However, 4 pts behind Walton and 6 behind Anderson, I don't think so. If you cannot get an inside game going when it counts you cannot beat SK defenders from the outside. It will be an interesting Regional T at SK.

Check Walton's schedule, they have played 3 pretty good teams and have lost 2 of them. I'd much rather win or lose by a few points to a quality team than to play cupcakes and know your going to win by 20 getting off the bus. I agree should be a great Regional T, looking forward to it. Wish SK played S.O. and Anderson Co. in the regular season.

Hard not to put Anderson #1 right now; the biggest question remains how their young players will respond to the stress of the regional tournament. Physical, mental, and emotional maturity only come with time and experience...

I'd have SK #2....(behind AC only because Lafayette beat the Lady Pioneers and AC beat Lafayette.... I know, comparing scores is a tenuous thing, but picking this region the first week of January is a fool's folly, anyway!)

Walton-Verona looks like a solid #3 to me, but they shouldn't show ahead of SK since they lost to SK...

I'd have South and Owen next...I think South has shown more against tougher teams, including the big win over Highlands, and frankly, I like South's year-end potential more...but Owen beat South... so Owen probably deserves #4 and South #5 right now.

Oldham and Gallatin look to be almost dead-even at this point as the 6 and 7 teams. Both have the potential to move up.

All in all, the above doesn't look like a bad ranking...it's really anyone's guess, anyway!

Strap in, folks! It's going to be a fun ride to the finish!

Here are the Massey Ratings for this week.

It appears to be the year of the "Cats" - Anderson and W-V.
