It really just depends on how you define this word. I would doubt Simon does anything illegal...but I do know that a few years ago when Stowers got up and spoke at the 8th region banquet he ruffled a few feathers when he talked about how he convinced one of his players to come to Simon for high school.

Shelby doesn't schedule games. It's a blind draw. Not to mention playing late would actually help the traveling team.

Here is the problem. They had an incredible run last season...they were playing their best basketball at the end of the year. However, they benefited from a GREAT draw at state. Look at their record and scores from a year ago...they weren't a great team. They were a solid team who played their best basketball at the end of the year. If anything this years team looks MUCH better...but the 10th region is better and when/if they get to state they won't have as easy of a time (although being in the top bracket at the state is still a nice draw). People will want to crucify the coach if they fail to get back to state...but the body of work this year proves that they have made progress and are a better team then a year ago, but the path to get back to the same spot is also much more difficult. Give the girls and coaching staff a break. Enjoy last years run for what it was but don't judge this year's team based on last years finish.

The entire process for choosing Mr. And Ms. Basketball is a disaster.

Gotta be a disadvantage having to travel that far before and after games. Hopefully if they win Friday they will stay the night for the championship game.

I hope they aren't thinking that. The road to the 8th region championship would likely be MUCH easier as a district winner. If they lose they probably draw either Anderson or Trimble in Round 1 and may have to deal with the other in round 2...not to mention a possible rematch in the finals with Walton. As a winner they get a runner up and likely a much easier path....of course other upsets or a strange draw could make anything possible.

I am pretty sure that everyone used to draw...and then seeding was introduced as an option. Districts had to vote to change from a draw to seed. In order to change, a majority vote was required. If there was a tie, no change occurred. Slowly over time most districts voted to seed...but there are still a few who do not.

Final. Shelby eliminated. Collins will play Anderson for the district championship.

You think not having a shot clock would help this? If your team is bad enough to commit 25 turnovers you probably aren't good enough to hold the ball and run offense for more then 30 seconds anyway.

Anderson has played mercy, mercer, Lincoln, franklin, Boyle, Holmes, Allen county, Clark, Walton, Shelby, Lafayette. Shelby isn't quite as impressive, but have played male and franklin late in the season as well as Trimble and Anderson (twice).

You could argue that Simon is the best team in NKY regardless of region. If you put them in the ninth they would be co favorites along with Holmes and Ryle. After that, Anderson/Shelby/Walton are probably all about the same as the next level of teams in the 9th. However, the 9th is stronger 5-8. There isn't a team in the 9th that would "automatically" win the 8th. Ryle/Holmes would both be the favorite if they replaced simon (just like simon is the favorite now) but they aren't automatic winners. Anderson already beat holmes. Walton/Shelby are also capable of beating one of the favorites. Both the 8th and the 9th should be great tournaments!

I have seen it numerous times this year. Whether you have seen it once or see it 100 times, it shouldn't be a part of the game.

The implementation of a shot clock would be benifical for defense, not offense. Not having a shot clock favors the teams with the most athletes...those teams that can force you to extend your defense outside the quarter court. I have seen several teams just refuse to play against quarter court man/zone because they had a lead and wanted to force a team to come out and challenge them in the half court. The game of basketball...and in particular girls basketball...has evolved quite a bit over the last 10 or so years. Basketball is better with a shot clock. That's why they use one in college and professional basketball. I get that argument that "it would be expensive" to implement, but the game has evolved and IS Better with a shot clock.

Implementation is simple. KHSAA says that all postseason games will be played on a floor with a shot clock if possible (district/region/state). If your gym does not have one then you will be ineligible to host postseason games. If only one team in a 4 team district has a shot clock, they host every year (until another team adds it). You can play regular season games however you want, but all postseason games will be played with a shot clock. I guarantee that all these schools would then come up with the funding. Most games would go virtually unaffected by a shot clock. But it would prevent teams from playing stall ball in the 1st half and reward teams for playing good sound defense. Considering you think the game was negatively effected by the 3 point line, I probably won't be able to convince you a shot clock is going to make the game better though. Probably easier to just agree to disagree.

Having a shot clock doesn't force a team to take a bad shot/quick 3. The worst is watching a team play great defense for an entire minute and get nothing out of it. Or watch a team stand at half court with the ball on their hip. Having a shot clock makes the game better.

I am using the amount of players who sign division 1 scholarships....but I am sure if you included ALL college players coming from the girls side that number would also be signifcantly bigger. And yes, I understand the argument that more boys play across the nation then girls...but also more boys play in the state of Kentucky then girls. Proportionally I am sure they are comparable. The reality is that more top talent comes out from the girls side then the boys side...and I don't think that's even debatable.

How so? Are boys bigger/faster/stronger? Sure. That makes the game faster and more popular to the casual fan. As far as actual talent, the girls side is way ahead of the boys side in the state of Kentucky.

I understand why some people don't like the girls game. Most men that get into the girls side do so because they have a daughter that plays or have a friend or family member that plays. Once you watch the girls for a while you learn to love and appreciate the game for what it is. Most continue to follow even after their daughters/family members are out of it. I apologize for coming off so abrasive. I find a lot of people who think the boys side is better and it struck a nerve. I love both sides, but would not have ever watched a girls game if it wasn't for a family member
