PurplePride92 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I'm guessing it is a two girl race between Erin Boley and Whitney Creech. I know Creech's numbers are unbelievable and she could set the career scoring record to a number that will never be passed. Erin Boley will likely go down as one the best players the state of KY has ever produced. Who will win Mrs. Basketball or who should win Mrs. Basketball?
15th Region Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I hope Miss Basketball goes to Whitney Creech, but I do believe Erin Boley is the better all around player. To score so many points when the other team knows your going to shoot is impressive. And to do it while shooting a high percentage and pulling down 14 rebounds a game is something else. I mean if it were so easy, why has it never been done before. It takes a special player to do such things. If you traded Creech and Boley I dont think Boley puts up those numbers against triple teams full court and i dont think Creech puts up the numbers Boley did against such stiff competition. This will be an interesting race for sure. IMHO I think they should share the award so to honor both. Co-Miss Basketball's. Its not unprecedented as it has happened with Mr. Basketball. I cant think of a better way to decide it.
PurplePride92 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 I am leaning Erin Boley for Mrs. Basketball. She'd get my vote.
PurplePride92 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 If it isn't Whitney Creech, I give up. Really? You give up if Erin Boley wins Mrs. Basketball? Erin Boley is averaging 25 points, 11 rebounds, shooting 62% from the floor, 52% from three, 88% from the free throw line, headed to the Mickey D's game, #3 forward in America, #5 player overall in America, signed to Notre Dame, her team is one of the favorites to win the Sweet 16 this year, her team has played a ridiculous schedule this season and if she beats out Whitney Creech for Mrs. Basketball you give up? Really?
Wireman Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I don't know anything about Erin Boley. I don't even know which team she plays for.
passtheball Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I don't know anything about Erin Boley. I don't even know which team she plays for. Either this explains it or you are just poking the bear.
maysvilleky Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 If it isn't Whitney Creech, I give up. IMO the player most similar to Creech is Chris Harrison that played at Tollesboro. Basically the same type player...he was a prolific scorer on a small school team. Chris Harrison DID NOT win Mr. Basketball (and he signed with UK). Whitney Creech IMO will not win Ms. Basketball. I believe the award will go to Erin Boley.
Jesse James Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I don't know anything about Erin Boley. I don't even know which team she plays for. @Wireman I know you follow basketball close on the mens side. I can tell you I follow it just as close on the womens side. For those that know basketball this is a no brainer. Easiest pick thats been in years.
Wireman Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Either this explains it or you are just poking the bear. It explains that I don't follow girl's basketball...at all. But, I know who Whitney Creech is, who she plays for, that she has almost 5,300 points and that she was on SportsCenter. That's all I'm saying. I know nothing about Boley and I'm sure she's a fine basketball player. @PurplePride92 is a little shady but I'll take everyone else's word for it :lol2:
RCC9 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Okay, let's put this to bed. What Creech has done at any level is OUTSTANDING! There have been thousands of players play at all different levels of competition across the state for many years and no one has scored more points than her. Incredible accomplishment. But let's compare the two since we insist on having this conversation. I feel like anyone saying Creech deserves it over Boley cannot have seen Boley. Boley is is better ball handler. Better outside shooter. Better rebounder. Shares the ball better. Better defender. And plays several games against D1 competition. She has PG skills in a long 6'2" frame. And anyone that doesn't think she couldn't do the same thing as Creech if she were in the same situation is silly. If you hand her the ball and tell her to score as many as possible against that competition, there's no doubt in my mind she would be the scoring leader in the state.
EyesOnCourt Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Although Creech has talent and has the ability to score in large numbers, Boley would run circles around her in any situation. Boley wins Mrs. Basketball.
Wireman Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Creech was 44-45 from the field last night. 93 points. That's amazing.
REH5 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I would have to go with Erin Boley for this award. I have followed girls basketball for years and she has excellent skills and is one of the best I have seen in this state. What Whitney Creech has done has made her a legend. I would love to see her nominated and win The Lexington Herald Leader's Sportsperson of the Year award. We are privileged to have both of them in the state and from my interactions with them they are even better people than basketball players.
