Sportsmanship at Its Finest!!!!
Theoldman12 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Proves that there is more than winning and losing especially in high school basketball. I'm glad to see that this kid had his friends there to comfort him and that he got to play like he wanted. I'm sure this was a huge boost to a high school kid and I wish the best for him. -
35th District @ Holy Cross Boys/Girls
Theoldman12 replied to B-Ball-fan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
True, but I would expect to see the CCH students there this time as there was a dance last time and a lot of them didn't go to the game. -
I agree as is Lother especially with the game he played tonight. He has a very high basketball IQ and has proved that he can play in physical games even though he is smaller. Also he has some range. I think the one he hit at the end of the third quarter was probably a step behind NBA land. He can step up when someone like Grote has an off game.

Yea, I thought Nikola played a pretty good game and O'Connor pulled down some rebounds, but overall I would say Highlands bigs won the battle.
-
He played, but only took four shots at most. It looked to me as if he was bothered by the physical play by Highlands big men. At one point I thought an all out brawl was going to break out with Nikola and somebody from Highlands maybe Grubbs? Of course nothing happened as these kids were smart enough to hold their tempers, but this just shows how physical the game really was.

How did Ives play tonight? -
The changing point of the game was the technical foul on Carr. It ended up going from a 5 point game to a 9 point game and shifted all of the momentum. I'm sure the reasoning was sufficient, but just bad timing.

Best team in the last 10 years?
Theoldman12 replied to Cameraman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I remember that Scott County team that year as I was happy when HC was tied with them at half time and only lost by around 15. -
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree , but I would love to have Meeks on my team especially with the way he can take over a game.
-
Well, some of them play different positions, but I would take him over Hansbrough, Thabeet, Lawson, Calathes, and Teague from your list. The other guys I haven't personally seen enough of. He is one of the biggest game changers in college basketball as he can take the game into his hands at any point.
-
Well yea that should be Blake Griffin without a doubt, but I think Meeks is at least top five. He has had three performances with over 40 points and one of those being a 50 point perfomance. I realize the SEC is down this year, but that's still a great accomplishment. IMO he should be recognized up there as I feel he is just as good if not better then a lot of people already mentioned throughout the thread.

Why don't you think he should be involved in the talk at all?

Holmes v Conner Predictions (2/17)
Theoldman12 replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually four. The two you have mentioned as well as Dominique(sp) Johnson and Rice. -
1) Griffin. (no doubt) 2a) Meeks 2b) Curry I thinkg Meeks and Curry are both about the same because Meeks mean a WHOLE lot to his team too.

Scott at Highlands (2/17)
Theoldman12 replied to BaseballIsLife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I agree with that and that's why I said I think it will be a good game between two very good teams. All I was saying is that it's going to be hard to help off a lot when they're going to be passing to other people who can score. Overall, I think both teams match up very well. I see a strength for Highlands with Grote and a strength for Scott with Smith. -

I think the 35th district will be very interesting this year. -
Scott at Highlands (2/17)
Theoldman12 replied to BaseballIsLife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
IMO if Scott puts Kola on Grote he will have a field by either driving by him or pulling up on him. Murray might be able to guard Kowolonek, but he'll still probably get his quiet 12 or so that he always has. -
Toughest Region in State.
Theoldman12 replied to KY Baller's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think as a whole region the 9th is ahead of the 10th. -
Scott at Highlands (2/17)
Theoldman12 replied to BaseballIsLife's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I like Highlands in this one because I don't think anyone is going to be able to stop Grote or Kowolonek. On the other side I don't know if Highlands will be able to stop Smith. The bigs for both teams will be a good battle all night. -

How Many FTs Should Be Awarded?
Theoldman12 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
So then who coaches the team? The five players left on the floor and maybe a couple kids left on the bench? Some teams only have two coaches sit on the bench. -

Beat CC in overtime and lost to Holmes in a blowout early on and a close game in the tourney. -
