With Mel Webster at Brossart stepping down, is there any chance he is a candidate for this position? With his winning percentage I would think that NDA would jump at the chance to have him. A coach with proven results and experience would be a logical choice dont you think??

Yup, you are correct on the reload, but then next "Big Horse" was in "Big Purple" last season was she not?? Those of us in Purple will miss her, but wish her the best of luck. As for Lawnboy, well the team he follows may struggle next season. They lose some key players in the pitcher, catcher and shortstop. I am not sure how they will replace those positions, I haven't seen much there in the younger grades but you never know. Both teams will be young, but it sounds like "Big Green" has already got the stable full of "new talent" and ready to "Run for the Roses".

Congrats to Bracken on the win. Also, a nice way to end the year for the mostly young Camels. I would think that everyone has to be pleased on how they finished their season. While the final of this one was closer than what the final score indicated still a good game. Good Luck in the next round to Bracken.

This isn't grade school, coaches have a right to challenge a horrible call. He cares he isn't 4-16 Well "BIG" Green, I may not be the expert, but I am soooo glad if I had a daughter who was a softball player I would know not where to send her to be a student athlete. Another first class comment/s by a person in administration, not to mention a coach. 1) Sorry, but just like your scorebook you are incorrect in me being a coach, 2) if the 4-16 is pointed at the Campbell County record, which by the way I did check the KHSAA web-site and I am an expert on reading the facts, then how did you only beat them 1-0 after 2, 11-0 wins over the Camels per you post?? It seems to me that coach cared enough to erase the previous outcomes and almost pull off the win. Could it be he took a very young team and developed them and had them ready to go at the right time of the season?? Your comments just go to prove how correct my statement is. They are just a long line of comments and your actions are not the first time you have embarrassed yourself, your team and your school. How about your little 2 step number you did a year ago after beating Bracken County?? Well that paid off now didn't it?? What was the outcome of the All A Regional finals this year?? Please remember every action has a re-action. If you make comments you may want to make sure that you have your facts straight first. You know what happens to those who throw stones..... Why not give credit where credit is due rather than saying a 4-16 coach doesn't care?? I wittnessed that coach getting ejected for far less than what I saw from you in the district finals, but he is smart enough not to get involved in bashing other teams.

To challenge a call or contest a call is one thing, but to continue to see the same actions out of a "head coach/athletic director is another. What I wittnessed AGAIN, shows the lack of perfessionalism from this individual. Not only does he do this during softball, but at any sporting event he is in attendence at. Pencil whipping stats is one thing, but to contiue be a very poor representative of your school...... well I guess the administartion feels that this is the way a adult should act, not to mention what this is teaching his players. Good Luck to both teams in the Regional. I guess that my $$$$$ spent for the public school system is not that bad!! I felt the coach from Campbell has done a great job with developing his very young team and watch out, things do go full circle and the wealth of talent for the Mustangs may be not as strong in the future.

I have also heard that with gas almost $4 per gallon, that Lawnboy has offered his services completely free of charge. He is trying a new approach how to better the playing conditions. He is bringing in a herd of cattle to mooooowwwww the outfield and 6 donkeys to plow the infield. I also have been told he has a great idea on how to make the grass greener in the outfield, but watch where youi are stepping:). All kidding aside, why not use the services of NKU??? great playing conditions, great atmosphere, plenty of parking and a first class person willing to help make the districts a success in Chipp Gregg. Sounds like it makes much more sense????????

Considering the source, you would think that a little more respect would be shown. While the Grove does not have a tremendous amount of talent, they are the children of a parent and there are some really good kids on this team and for "Big ole Green Horse to beat his chest about this one...... well I guess I have proved my point.

It still is amazing that all the players from BBHS always having such amamzing stats that most do not make it to the next level??? With stats like they have I would think there would be a good number playing in college with the schedule they play. 20 win seasons should get these girls noticed. Maybe it is not the current coach they may want to look at? While the current coach did a very good job with a very young team, there may be another coach in that building that has a very impressive resume????? The Camel faithful usually expect quick results and the coach I am speaking of may be just the guy for the job?????? See the boys thread regarding this subject, but WHY?? Would these girls not be better served by playing teams of equal talent and hope to progress as the season goes along and then maybe have a better chance to compete with the bigger schools. As done in the past why not play Calvary for the last seed?? What good can come out of playing Campbell Co., Scott, and Brossart?? Why not try to build confidence instead of tearing it down?? Is there any reason that administration couldn't do what is best for the student athlete rather than think they can compete with the larger schools??

Mustang and Coach Kues make a great point. What is the point in playing the Campbell Co's, Scott's and Brossart's of the world?? Would it not be better served to play teams that Silver Grove could compete with and not shatter the teams confidenence this early in the season?? You can try to justify this any way you want if you are Silver Grove Administartion, but playing Calvary for the last seed makes much better sense. Play teams that these kids can compete with and build the confidence that, just maybe come district tourney time a better game may be played. This is not to discredit the heart and courage of the kids, but lets just admit that the talent level at this time for Silver Grove is not ready to compete with the above named schools.

You are correct. Young Mr. McDonald did not do well in the Regional Tourney. So to include him in this years top 10 in the state may be a bit premature, but I would keep my eye on this young man. He has a GREAT future ahead of him. Hopefully, NCC will step up their comptetition via scheduling over the next few seasons to challenge not only Drew but his teammates for better showings in the future. Still not a bad year for this young man. But again, just one persons opinion. Good luck to the young men at the State tourney.

Well, when they play I will let you know. The comparison was against Blake Hamilton, so if he is to be considered one of the top players in the state than, Drew McDonald should be considered as one also. How did Blake fare against that competiton? If he has played them than this should give you some idea on how young Mr. McDonald may do. Does that answer your question?

Well you better watch out for the 8th grader from NCC!! He just won the conference Tourney, beating Blake Hamilton. Drew McDonald is the young man i am speaking of. He then went into a playoff, really not sure who that was against and won the playoff. So I guess you can add one more name to the top 10 players in the state in the individual category.

Than why do coaches get paid??

Why would you want to make the number of applicants public?? This late in the game how many are qualified applicants?? Who would know the number of applicants other than the search committee and AD?? My reason for this is because, the same statement was made last year reagarding the number of applicants and they ended up with someone with little to no varsity expereince. So, even though there may be good number of applicants it does not always mean that quanity will produce quality.

If that is the case, than why look any further than the halls of Brossart. It seems to me someone with 400 plus wins, a member of the N. Ky Hall of Fame and many other state wide awards would be a very qualified applicant?? Why don't the powers that be put aside their differences, take a look at when the last time the program was a respected and winning program and do the correct thing??

If you look at your statement you have something, but not what you think. Did you ever think that the players that Coach Dawn won the All A State with may have come in under Coach McDonald??? While I feel both are very good coaches, I think if Coach McDonald had the chance with that group that she would be very capable of getting the same results. Brossart would be getting a very good coach if Coach McDonald would want or be offered the position. As for Coach Dawn, his results speak for themself, so instead of throwing stones lets admit that both are very good coaches.

And the Board of Education, takes a vote to either renew the contract of the Superintendent or not to renew. I think that is what is meant by a vote. If I am not mistaken, the current super just made it in the last time his contract came up for renewal, not sure but that was the rumor. There is a good chance that one of those votes may change the next time around with his right hand man running for County Commissoiner?? So again, "As the Camel turns", wouldn't be Campbell County High School without some conterversy

This entire thing is a JOKE!! Scott Code is a class person and a very good coach. If school administration would just stay out of the way and just let coaches do their job CCHS may have some success. It is a shame that a school that had some success all through the 1980's has fallen so far. If Brad Carr was offered the job 2 weeks ago, it just goes to show the lack of class that is in administration at CCHS. I give Coach Carr credit in 2 areas, 1) to realize the mess that he would walk into and 2) showing respect for Scott Code to not take the job if that is the way it was done. Rumor has it that Bob Jones was also let go, it also has been rumored that Mr. Jones supported Coach Code and once he found out what was going on he let the administration know exactly what he felt and moved on. Credit to Mr. Jones for having the loyality to support a good coach!! Without having a dog in this fight I will go on record to say the following, "if Coach Code does join his brother, look out. The one thing the Code boys are very good at is working together and if I were Campbell I would be very worried. With what Brossart has coming up and the frosh class they are going to have walk in the door it is going to be a VERY LONG time before Campbell is going to see any success over Brossart". While Scott Code may be a very quite person he is a very good X's and O's coach, so enjoy Campbell your future may be a long one. Also, Mr. Strong better strart working those votes now, you will need them in the future to retain your job. My property tax bill is mostly for school taxes and I am not getting the best return on my investment so enjoy now because I feel your future may change. Coach Code, good luck in whatever your furture plans are!! Hope you didnt throw away all of your green. Also, you never know, you could see him in Blue and White with Coach Flynn.

You must not have any children playing high school sports. I personally switched from Dish TV back to Insight just to watch Don and his coverage of HIgh School sports. He was very devoted to covering athletics for all ages. He would travel the state just to get highlights during football playoffs to be back in the studio the same night to start editing so people that did not travel to those far away locations had a chance to see their child, make a block, a saving tackle on special teams, a great offensive play or just span the crowd so Little Johnny could see himself on TV within a very resonable time frame, sometimes the same night. It will be interesting to see how this effects customer loyality in this area. Some considering the shows of Don and Charlie Coleman as rentention tools, if that is the case and they kept people watching their shows sounds as if it is not broke don't fix it?? With both of these shows only being an half-hour long if find it hard to believe they were costing the station that much. As for Don he is a very class act, not to mention a very great person that will be very muched missed in this community. Good luck Don and I hope the ICN decision makers here some of the outcry for your comeback, but if not I am sure that they will see that via customers going back to Dish, Direct TV's provider. Like everyone else, the final score is a surprise. I thought with under 2:00 to go and the game well in hand, it would have been nice to see Brossart get some of the younger players some experience on the big stage of the Regional Tournament. From where I was sitting the Lady Stangs played hard but just did not have the talent that Montgomery had. Again, not the score I was hoping for after a long ride. Congrats to the Brossart seniors and a fine year.

I also saw no disrespect!! Some may think 30 seconds is a short period of time, but while it does not happen often anything can happen. I have seen a team come back from 12 down with 25 seconds to play and take the game into overtime and win. 30 seconds can be a lifetime to play depending on how many timeouts are left and the foul situtation. From where I was sitting, it just seemed to me that the coaches from St. Pats were able to make the proper adjustments to give their team the chance to get back into the game and Brossart did not.
