Yep, Newport will be down the next few years in talent unfortunately and now they have to find a coach.

 

Lets see what Russell can do with the personell at CC.

Sounds like the administration did an outstanding job in the selection. Coach Russell brings something that has not been at CC during the last few head coaches. Alum status. I would thinks you won't have to worry about him being purple through and through. My guess is he is out looking for purple shirts today.

Personally I would take Code over Russell any day. Russell had a great year this year with a ton of talent. Code is a much better coach...JMO

I think he was there for 10 seasons, so I'm guessing he's pretty close to 200 wins. Also, I wonder what his record was in his first three years.

KHSAA.org doesn't have Newport's coach listed for 01/02 and that season they went 10-16. Here's Russell's record starting with '02/'03:
