Featured Replies

Just Campbell hiring from within AGAIN. Hasnt wprked before why would it now

Can you not find anything positive to say about this hire? He is an alumni but has never coached at CCHS. Hopefully himself and this team will prove you wrong.

Maybe there is more to coaching than wins and losses????????

Thank you!

Thank you for those words of intelligence! If everyone could only realize what goes into coaching! I do believe Aric will do a fine job and I am pleased to have him in Campbell County!

Come on guys. Lets put the record to the side. I would like to see how many coaches could go to Newport and win with the types of things Aric put up with day in and day out and yes it is more than just the wins and losses. Aric has done a fantastic job with those kids. He has had to have a much different type discipline than most of you think of when you think of discipline. Some of those kids had some rough situations that Aric helped out with time and time again. He had as much discipline as he could without not having a team. There have been many times Aric has looked out for those kids well being whether it be academically, socially, or even attendance at school. Not to mention the number of players that have left over the years that could have helped him win but due to family problems, mortgage/rent problems, or any other number of problems had to move somewhere else. The number of players and families Aric has helped over the years far outweighs the number of wins and losses. There will be discipline. Aric will do a good job at CC and I wish him well.

Good coaches find a way to win. Good coaches do it by building kids self estem and coaching in a positive light. I think coaches should always and be a good example for the young men they coach. I think coach Russell will do a excellent job with the Camels! Good Luck!

Code was best they ever had alogn with Sullivan and they fired both go figure dudes

Wow that is a strong statement, for someone along the river. I don't know, but from what I have heard those two incidents are completely different.

When you live along the river you become and expert on stench

Good luck to coach Russell, I know he has wanted this job for awhile now.

Being part of the Camel basketball family, I am glad that a decision has been made. I hear very good things about Coach Russell and wish him the best. The first scrimmage was scheduled for June 11th against Boone County. Hopefully, that will be our first look at the new coach.

Then you and Sullivan should be best of friends.

Any thought of who may be coming with Russell to Campbell County? If anyone.

I heard that a representative from Huff Realty and a guy from 2 Men and a Truck were in the running.

The previous sticking point for this deal has always been "tenure"....I hope Aric does well and more importantly I hope he doesn't get totally banged up by the administration out there. Aric is a good coach and can help the cause, but I would personally be skepitcal about taking a head coach in a big sport (Football, Basketball) without a solid A.D. in place with a good track record. If you want to look at the issues in the county, stop looking at the sidelines and look who's pulling the strings. Good Luck Aric, I do hope you can overcome the machine.

I hear Styer is leading AD candidate

Sounds like the administration did an outstanding job in the selection. Coach Russell brings something that has not been at CC during the last few head coaches. Alum status. I would thinks you won't have to worry about him being purple through and through. My guess is he is out looking for purple shirts today.

First of all, I like Aric and wish him well. He is smart enough to know what he is getting into. I hope he got his tenure in the negotiations.

Second - this is the first post I have seen applauding the CCHS administration. I'm not sure what being an alum does to help you win games. If Scott Code would have been an alum would they have liked his style better. Being an alum only complicates things if it doesn't go well.

Dorothy said "There's no place like home." We are about to find out if Aric Russell agrees.

Purple Shirts? I guess it is a place to start. But I think Aric will find purple shirts alone won't keep him in good graces.
