On senior night Birds come out on the cold winning side tonight.

This game was a comedy of errors - two umpires who don't know what an out is, much less the rules of the game or consistent strike zone for either side, a field that made an ice skating ring look solid, unusual ugly play on both sides from the defense, a game full of walks, mostly during the rainy first few innings and the inability to get medical personel and an ambulance down to the field. Most important thing about the game was the Birds' got to celebrate their senior night and we hope Shelby is okay.

The field it self was in good condition. The strike zone was all over the place all night for both teams. Both teams played on the same field and conditions. I thought it was very nice of the birds to Honor the NDA senior players as well as ours.

The down side of the game was Shelby, how the school makes the girls play down in the hole and you are dead right no way to get medical help to anyone down there.

Last we heard was they were going to keep her over night to keep an eye on her she had a pretty bad concussion. Hope she gets out and feeling better.

Hope the girl is ok, How did she get hurt? If she is a ND player they are about the only team in the area that wears masks.

There is a lot of talk about the level of play in NKY, the level of play far exceeds the umpires in the area. As a group they are a joke.

she was released last night from the hospital! She was a HHS player it happened in the dugout area fell back wards dodging a foul ball and hit the ground HARD!

With all the money in Ft. Thomas you would think they would have a better field for the softball team, but I guess Dale needs to make rent payments for his out of district football players parents living quarters. I heard NKU offered to host the 36th district tournament and Highlands turned them down, is this true. I hate to say it but that field (Highlands) is a DUMP, sticking them down in "Death Valley", the worst place to play and watch a game this side of the Mississippi.

Ignoring the immature part of your post I will say I agree with the point that HHS does have one of, if not the, worst facilities in NKY.

Clyde thanks wasn't sure how to answer the first part of his post. We have asked that question for years and now even more this year. Some of the parents have been screaming Title IX all year. I have been trying to get them to understand that everything isn't always as it seems. They all say look at the boys fields its all off campus nice run by the city and why cant we have that? Now maybe the school system might listen to them.

I heard the city was going to build a girls softball field up at Rossford Park when they were remodeling the fields up there. I was told the idea was shot down because there are so many young girls on the softball team. It would be too far for them to walk for practice and games and the admin wanted it to stay on campus..

Who do people think takes care of HP? The city only cuts the outfield grass. The coaches and kids have done most of the work at HP.

Thats not at all true. The city has just offered the softball team a field at Woodfill to use as there field with the city dist 22 knothole and other people covering the cost of repair like was done at Bartlett. Once the softball team was finished with the season the knothole kids could use.

That would be nice.. Do they plan on putting a grass infield in and a fence?

No grass infield for softball it is not allowed. As of now the AD at the school said a move any where is not in the cards. They state that the kids are to stay on campus it is safer and that they do not want them crossing the trafic on 27.

The only thing the school does is cut the grass in the valley just like the city does at HP.

No easy answer for the school system. Is there another park that has a field that could be used for softball? It would be hard to make this a Title IX issue since there isn't an on-campus baseball field.

The bigger issue is in regards to safety. It's been a few years since I've watched a game there so I don't recall. From the driveway at the top is there a concrete/blacktop path down to the field? If not how can we expect an ambulance to get down there if the ground is wet and they can't get back up?

Come on, can't I get a little jab in. All joking aside, any word on why they turned down NKU and there offer to host the district tourney.
