Ignoring the immature part of your post I will say I agree with the point that HHS does have one of, if not the, worst facilities in NKY.

No doubt about it. I realize Fort Thomas is landlocked but playing games in Death Valley is terrible. Grandparents and some parents can not go up and down the hill to see the game. They have to watch the game from on top of the hill and can't see. There is no bathroom. You would think they would at least put a port-o-let in. There is a paved path to the bottom of the field but then it is grass/mud from there across the field to the softball game.

I was at Dixie this past weekend and there softball field is as nice as NKU in my opinion. What great facilities they have there.

Come on, can't I get a little jab in. All joking aside, any word on why they turned down NKU and there offer to host the district tourney.

Was told NKU was not available for the the birds to use.

Thanks, I'll see you on Monday when the Breds come to "death valley".

I was told they didn't want to play the games at NKU because there is another district playing there and if there are any rain outs, it is a nightmare trying to reschedule games with other districts also. They thought it would be easier to play it at Highlands.

The district that NDA is in usually plays at NKU. Great site.

Yes NDA'S district is the 35th and they are played at NKU. If NKU could some how afford to get lights in up there I think a lot more games would be played. As it stands now you can't get more than 2 a night in. It is a great venue for high school playoff's.

The field it self was in good condition. The strike zone was all over the place all night for both teams. Both teams played on the same field and conditions. I thought it was very nice of the birds to Honor the NDA senior players as well as ours.

The down side of the game was Shelby, how the school makes the girls play down in the hole and you are dead right no way to get medical help to anyone down there.

Last we heard was they were going to keep her over night to keep an eye on her she had a pretty bad concussion. Hope she gets out and feeling better.

Field - debatable, but same for both teams.

Umps - terrible.

Birds - nice touch for the seniors on both schools. Coaches on both sides are doing a nice job building programs.

Field - take a look at the field NDA is putting together under Meier. Did the same at Villa. It takes a lot of parental involvement, private donation, administration support and lots of free labor.

NKU - was available to be shared but HHS coaches wanted control.

Most importantly, hope Shelby is alright.

NKU has had the 36 and the 35 for five years, no trouble, but when Highlands hosted the region they had some trouble with weather, it was not disdricts. Highlands could not get the help to run it, the coaches have to do all the work. Hope it don't rain in the valley. They have the right to host it, it is there turn to host or pass.

I have also heard that with gas almost $4 per gallon, that Lawnboy has offered his services completely free of charge. He is trying a new approach how to better the playing conditions. He is bringing in a herd of cattle to mooooowwwww the outfield and 6 donkeys to plow the infield. I also have been told he has a great idea on how to make the grass greener in the outfield, but watch where youi are stepping:).

All kidding aside, why not use the services of NKU??? great playing conditions, great atmosphere, plenty of parking and a first class person willing to help make the districts a success in Chipp Gregg. Sounds like it makes much more sense????????

Don't let the cat out of the bag, I might get more request than I can handle.

I've been to Highlands this year and have been there in the past. Not sure why people think it is such a bad place to play. It seems to me that the people at Highlands are waiting around for someone to come in and fix their problems instead of doing it themselves. It takes two things to have a nice field, hard work and money. Everyone knows that Highlands has plenty of the second, is there anyone willing to step up with the first? Not sure why anyone would want to give up their chance to hold districts at home to go to NKU either, taking money right out of your softball teams pocket.

I think the money gets split up between the teams. No money.

Concessions? NKU certainly doesn't do these tourneys because they care about local high school softball, it is a fundraiser for them.

Typical view of an outsider. If you think that there is money available to fix things up, but no elbow grease to do it then you are sadly mistaken. Have you been in the basketball gym or to the soccer field? Have you been to classrooms in the high school building that leak every time it rains? There is no money available to fix these things as you suggest because all of that money is going to those schools down in the mountains that have state of the are facilities that are like small college campuses.

NKU does not run concessions at these events, the host team runs them and also collects the gate. As far as I know NKU charges a very small amount for field prep. So I think your post is way off base.
