They did choose to play a handfull of Varsity games. If you look at Cov. Latin, they did the same thing. I will say with the players that they have and having played JV teams such as Campbell Co. and Scott which they beat, they could have played a DIII varsity schedule. If you look at teams such a Beechwood, Bellevue, Silver Grove, ect...... they are playing with mostly sophs, and freshmen and if Calvary can compete with the larger school JV teams, than I would say they could have competed with the smaller DIII teams.

Please excuse the "sour grapes", that was made by another post. As for an ax-to-grind or vendetta this is not the case. What I am merely trying to say is that many teams have been in the situation that Ludlow has been in this year with an overload of talent and had success which is well deserved, but there is also a way to show sportsmanship at the same time. While I have only seen Ludlow play a handfull of games this year, maybe it may be by bad luck, but there were times that the ball could have been advanced up the court with out a fastbreak and sets of the offense could have been run while teams were down by large margins. Running 4 or 5 passes out of the offense, not looking to fire up 3's while teams are in a zone will not only keep the clock running but also keep some of the teams mentioned above from being embarrassed. Before it is said, I am not saying to take 10 second counts while advancing the ball up the court, but not looking to run out on teams that are very overmatched and are playing with what is obvious less talent that what they are playing against may be the correct move. Nobody is trying to discredit the success Ludlow is having, all that is being mentioned is suggesting to look at the scores how they may have been able to keep them somewhat respectable. It is mentioned that some of the other schools such as Highlands, NCC, ect.... have had some large margin wins, which is true, but they are not as consistant due to the fact of strenght of schedule. We all know that most of the DIII teams are not as strong as Ludlow, but all that is trying to be stated is to try to respect those teams that are not as strong and coach with the knowledge of have been in that position. As Buttels stated, Coach Stamm has had these kids since the 8th grade and without going back in history I do remember those days when Ludlow was on the other side of the scoring and Coach was not always the happy the face you see today. There will come a time when the talent cycle comes around to not be as strong and if I were in a position of being that coach I would hope teams would respect my team not being as strong and to try to keep the scores repectable. Just trying to stick up for the those schools that continue to be on the lopsided end of the scoring;)

Newport 9 7 7 10 -33 Ludlow 13 23 13 15 -64 49-23 after 3 quarters, I guess it makes sense to play your starters into the 4th quarter?? 1) I would think a 26 point comeback looked to be likely??, 2) why chance getting your better players getting hurt and not being more liberal with subbing to keep everyone fresh for the upcoming games??, 3) when the other team decides to admit defeat and play some less experienced players, let keep shooting those 3's and trapping the ball. While I did not stay for the end of the game last night, this has been the procedure in the past. So I guess I am missing the point and it is just "sour grapes" as you have stated, but if you do not find the conference that you are in a challange and feel that Ludlow is building a more competitive team than do what other teams in the 9th have done and petition to move to the Division II conference?? Teams such as Holy Cross and St. Henry were at one time a Division III school and seem to be doing just fine now. Again, may not know much, but just a suggestion.

Sorry, no sour grapes just giving the facts. A good number of games have been decided by 30 points or more, if you look at today's a paper 31 point spread shows unless there is a misprint, if so you may want to contact the Enquirer. I can understand a game or two being that way, but when a number of games are deicded by those type of margins...... well you can form your own conclusion. Again, just stating the facts:idunno:

Not my point at all. If you take a look at some of the point differences in some of the scores against some of the smaller and weaker Class A schools that Ludlow has played you may understand my comment. Beating teams by margins of 40 plus points may help your scoring average, but at times has showed a lack of sportsmanship. This would not be referring to the players, but maybe the direction that they are given. To continue to press teams when up 30 and play starters deep into the 4 quarter just to hit a scoring averages and flex some muscle is what the reference is made towards. I will stand by this comment though, Ron Dawn has always had his teams ready to play around tourney time, so yes I would give NCC the nod at this point to be the favorite to win the 9th Region A.

If they get to this game against NCC, maybe the run on 70 point games and margins of scores of plus 40 against A schools may come to an end:rolleyes:

Maybe it is not what the Birds did not do, but what Brossart did do. Let's give a little credit to Coach Code, a players coach and not a very bad game coach.

The same person that is working to rebuild the program. RAY KUES Even though the score may not indicate, the girls from Silver Grove have come a long way. Not only shoud the kids be complimented for what they are rebuliding, but Coach Kues and staff are in the process of helping this come back to where respect will be given!!

Bellevue gets their first win of the season. The Tigers get out of the gate with a 9-3 first quarter run and hang on for the win.

Too tell the truth this girl is only the age of an 7th grade student. Because of academics she was moved up. If things continue to go the correct way, could be a good red shirt frosh at the next level.

I am surprised not to see the Sanker girl from Brossart on this list. I know it is a top 10 list, but with Brossart hitting in at number 5 you would think she would get some props.

Yes, NCC vs Brossart is what I was speaking of. This game carries much more meaning in some decision making for certain athletes.

I would say that NCC and Brossart needs to be added to the list.

Looks likes this is heading into a Campbell/Scott thread. I agree with pressrow, let's get back to the main topic. What is the latest on the players at Brossart?

After two almost completed seasons the Brossart football program is still looking for their first win. While I commend everyone involved, it may be time to take a look back and see if a few seasons back to JV football may be the right thing to do?? While I am not sure how this would work out with the KHSAA, I am sure that if they made an appeal to the KHSAA Board of Control to return to JV football for a few years to give the program time to mature and grow they would understand that this would be for the best interest of the kids playing and for the development of the program. I know in other sports teams have not had the numbers to compete at the varsity level they stepped away from varsity competition for a few years and once the numbers were where they were needed they moved back to the varsity level. This in no way is a knock on what the fine people at Bishop Brossart are trying to accomplish, but lets face facts, they were forced to move into varsity competition and the program just was not ready. If you take a look at Walton Verona, they spent their time at the JV level, grew, got bigger and stronger, and at the right time made the move and are having some success. The southern area of Campbell County is starting to grow and with that fact the chances for growth of the school and program is going to happen. They have a great young, agressive coaching staff that can make the program one of the upmost respect, but as we all know it will take time to build. I feel parents would rather see their son compete and win or at least be in a position to win instead of taking consistant losses by large scores. What a possible solution may be is to take a look at the future and how the growth should happen, make the correct decision and do it. If it does involve in stepping back to JV for a few seasons to build the program there is nothing wrong in doing so. Than, when it is time, make that move back to varsity competition when they are ready. This will take care of that good athlete that gets away to other schools and keep him at a school that is in his backyard. This will also allow the parents to watch a game and not worry if their son is going to be subject to injury due to the size and strenght of the other teams because of a senior playing against a freshmen or sophmore. Again, I am not sure of the rule and if the move back for a few years is even possible, but if it is this may be something to consider. This is not to put down the Brossart program, just a thread for discussion on possible alternatives to help the program become successful. Good luck Mustangs in whatever happens.

By the way, did the Superintendent broker this deal for the 9th also? I don't hear anyone wanting praise from that region. As usual, they do what is best for the kids and are happy with that! On a side note it now seems the race for President has now become a three person race. If he can get this done, than I am very sure he can take care of the financial issues of the world, well as long as tenure is not involved:thumb:
