  1. I don't see were this has any relevance to anything today. What do you wish to prove or get from this? Nothing constructive. Everyone is racist to some degree. No matter your color, ethnicity, religion, etc... We all have derogatory thoughts or comments about people who are different and thus we are all racist. Who really cares if Rupp was or was not? I hate U of K and I could care less as that time has passed, there is nothing to be gained by this question. You gonna change it? Turn back the hands of time and have Rupp coach a team of non-whites?
  2. They sure did not have a problem when they were getting money from the Tobacco industry. I would be willing to bet that the University Farms still grows tobacco as a way to get additional money. How many Tobacco farmers donated, or sent kids to the school, or bougfht tickets to sporting events. They sure don't mind using tobacco money, DO THEY?!
  3. I watch RAW. I am tired of the Orton / Legacy storyline. I am getting ready to take some time off as it is driving me nuts. Otherwise I enjoy my time with the WWE.
  4. Sorry to want to try and figure out what is going on at SO. I could care less what happens with Coach Holbrook. Stay or not. If I am not allowed to question what is going on when 2 of the three schools seem to be winning and 1 does not, what is it. All anyone here has ever done is blame the kids? I do have a problem with that. That is all that was said here last year and that is where it is going this year. At what point is the coach(es ) responsible? My freinds are parents of players and supporters of getting this program back on the winning side. Col. Mike said that the program has never won over 6 games in a season. I am sure that the people around here would treat him like a god for that. Last 2 years on this site people talk about SO YOUTH and immaturity, they never seem to grow up or old? Why? Again, it is the kids fault. If that many years of kids are not buying into the program, all I ask is where is the disconnect? I am terribly sorry to offer differing opinions or ask questions on this forum that may be tough. I will conform, and I will only offer input that does not question the status quo. IS that what you want, because that is what I get from this. Whose job is it to teach a kid Math? The teachers or the kids? If the kid struggles, does the teacher say that they don't buy into algebra and walk away? Whose job is it to teach a kid Football? Same questions? Good Luck South, I am probably the only one that picked you to win tonight!
  5. All 3 Oldham County Schools have very nice facilities. South has a Turf field. North has a completely new complex, very special. Oldham New bleachers, Press Box, Concession Stand and Restrooms, Field House, and I believe they re-did the field as well. All three top notch!
  6. Sorry, did not mean to put words in your post. ?????????????? Well I guess he got rid of most of the indiviauls then if the senior classes are under 10 and the records are 4 - 20? So does he not promote individual players in the paper or whatever? I remember him tauting his QB pretty heavy in the pre-season. Does that go against what he believes? There are a lot of reasons that great programs are great. It starts with coaching / teaching. It includes commitment by players and coaches. It takes respect of both players and coaches. It takes players and coaches buying into the program. When your record is that of SO's, how well do you expect the kids to buy into it? It is easy to sell a successful program. It takes a LOT to be a successful program. I can't wait to get with my SO friends this week-end to get their thoughts.
  7. I never said that we should not be able to exchange opinions and ideas. All I asked is if I paid to see you sing, then sing. If I payed to see you dance, then dance. If I paid to hear you debate political issues then debate your tail off. Keep On Keepin On! :ylsuper:
  8. Wow! Good stuff. Those are small classes. I was wondering if that is all they had as freshmen or if they lost some, but you said they weeded out some problems, so I guess that would answer that. It does make me think, what kind of problems can you have at SO that you don't have everywhere? Are these kids a bunch... I just don't know. Arn't there problem kids everywhere? You don't just coach the good kids do you? Really I am at a loss here/ I know that I get people riled up by trying to have a discussion about these issues, but for me, there is a disconnect. I will be with a few of my buddies tomorrow who are closer to the program than me, I will pick their brains. If I think it is information that can be relayed without causing and uproar I will. It still just blows my mind that SO was full of a bunch of no good punks, just seems out of character.
  9. I don't even have a public forum beyond preps and people disagree or berate my opinions. Different? How about if I say it this way, I don't buy concert tickets to listen to the bands political diatribe. I don't tune into "Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, or Coulter", to hear them sing. I don't tune into a political debate to watch them dance. My point is only that we all have opinions and beliefs. Just because I sunk the winning free throw to win the game, does not mean that when they stick the mike in front of me, that I spew my political beliefs. Or am I off base and everyone with a mike or camera in front of them, for whatever reason, is worthy of having their opinions forced on others? Why does no one cry that Ted Nugents career has been hurt because of his outspoken beliefs? Enough outta me, I am just not as smart as most.
  10. Here is where I am.... Politicians ALWAYS bash other politicians. They are peers. They know what it means to be a politiican, they know what it takes to run a city, state, or country. Entertainers have NO clue. They are simply using their celebrity status to spew their opinions about subjects that they have NO clue about. There are too many Americans that think Entertainers are well versed and all knowing as it relates to anything! They are Entertainers, not professors of Education, Finance, Politics, or Economics. The only difference between them and the rest of us is that they have a public forum and we do not. Quite honestly, I don't watch George Clooney movies or buy Dixie Chicks cd's. Is that not my right? So it is OK to burn the American Flag, but don't disagree with a celebrities political views? HUH?
  11. What was SO's Senior count Last Year? What about the year before that? How do those numbers relate to the respective freshmen classes? Col. Mike, would you know?
  12. I don't know, that was before my time. I was just addressing the experience portion. I don't know anything about Bronger. If that is true, then I guess that explains why SO football is where it is with the administration. North has GREAT FAcilities. Coach Martin would never leave NO for SO. He has built something special there. Coach Brown is an Alum of OC, he would never leave. So SO is back to who would they go after or do they even care? I thought OC did some rennovations to their field as well? While SO does have a turf field, anytime you go up there it is being used by everyone but football. What football coach would not like to have some access to his field? Who knows, I just talk about what I hear in the community, it seems that there are problems everywhere. I just wish they SO players would get the opportunity to win and be competitive. I know that this has been hard on them.
  13. I do not know Who they should go after. It is my understanding that they have never "gone" after anyone. I was told that Bronger was the last head coach at SO that was hired with head coaching experience. I don't think anyone is trying to run this coach out, not like the last one. I don't hear of the witch hunts that were running around with the last guy. Is anyone sure that the SO administration is upset? It is my understanding that they don't really worry about the wins and losses?
  14. I suggest he see if the letter will get him a free bucket of original recepie before he burns it!
  15. Haven't they been using that excuse for the last 5 or 6 years? So the REAL question is where do the 25 to 30 Freshmen go in 4 years? South has Talent. South has Athletes South has Size. What are they 4 and 20 over the last three years? There is a dis-connect somewhere. Someone said it earlier, to much parental support, to nice of facilities, for this to be allowed to continue.
  16. I think it is to close to call. North Should beat South, But just like in previous years, South has athletes and can compete. I hope to be wrong but I'll go NO 14 SO 7.
  17. At the high school level I agree, most of us played for that school, have kids playing for that school, so on and so forth. At the levels above that, ONLY if you truely ever were part of the program should you say "We" or "Us". When you get to the college level, I think it gets used to make someone feel more important or more a part of a program than the are. I ask myself, when I die, will anybody at the University of Louisville or UK, or the Colts care? If not, then I don't need to say "we" or "us".
  18. It looks to me like North is wanting to continue their winning ways. Coach Martin does a great job. Coach J hit a lot great points. I think one other thing is that Caoch Martin and his staff do is respect their players and work hard to keep them in the program. You don't grow in numbers like that unless you respect the kids and they respect you. You don't grow in numbers like that by not working the hallways for those kids that did not play. I know a little of Irv and that is a sweet steal. Rick young has been around Oldham County programs for years and I don't know how he was allowed to sit out so long before someone grabbed him. Good luck to the Stangs in 09.
  19. I think PETA is beyond absurd, so is that statement,(not rockmoms, the original).
  20. I heard on one of the talk shows that the NCAA closed that loophole?
  21. This ruling was a crock! The officials STOLE the state title from the Central hurdler and the Team.
  22. Play Ball! Yes you go to school for an education. It comes in many forms, not just the classroom. You learn a lot about life playing sports. It's as educational. Don't act like one is more important than the other. What you learn in both are equally as important to this kids future.
