I understand your defenses, and maybe it is selfishness that I experience that does not want to lose the Football Playoffs, the moving of the X & T game. With the contacts and power that he posesses, I do not understand how he could not have worked something out to accomodate the Finals. Just Frustrating. I hope the university loses all kinds of revenue and recruits and realizes the importance of hosting this event.

Here is my problem, Tom J. gave in to the powers that be again and showed his lack of respect for High School Sports. Even Mitch B. had the Cats play the NIT game in the little gym so as not to displace the KY High School finals in Rupp. How much money did UK lose with that move? They did show that they value High School Sports.

What about Dunlap from Oldham County or Kraemer from South Oldham?

I heard that they Beat St. mary's of Paducah They were beating Rossview from Clarksville TN and ended up losing due to an inning that they gave up 5 unearned runs. Then they beat Reidland of Paducah and then beat a team from Mauldin Missouri. Sounds like a good week-end.

I don't know the kid you are talking about, but I do know that once you get past the elite level, coaches look for character as much as anything. They do not want problems from the mid level athlete. They don't want it from the elites, so they assign people to them to help. Smaller schools can find a replacement for a bad attitude without much problem. I think that is true in all sports.

Just heard today that SO is going to Paducah for a wood bat tournament. Any other local teams going? Anybody know whose going to be there? How many wood bats do you think kids today will break in a 4 game deal?

My understaning is that a "preferred walk-on" has a reserved roster spot and report to summer camp with the scholarship players. All regular walk-ons report the first day of school. I could be wrong but that is my understanding.

Oldham County could surprise some people. While they lose some GREAT kids, there is talent in the wings for Coach Brown to let loose. South Oldham should get some wins this year. They have talent this year that they have been waiting to mature and get ready for this year. The schedule change will help get some wins, I think that they should get a couple of district wins as well. OC and Anderson should be tough for SO, but I think they should be able to get J-Town and Grant County. They should get back to the playoffs.

I like the sideline rule. I just saw several occasions last year that in the same game, one sideline was controlled very strictly, while the other was not controlled at all. This inconsistnecey I do not think is correct. Enforce it, to the letter, everyone. That is all that I ask.

From what I saw, enforcement was very inconsistent this past year. Even so from sideline to sideline in the same game. This has to change for this to really work.

I would have to disagree with this. From what I have seen at Football, Basketball and Baseball, they are the most intense, chip on the shoulder program in the county. I, like the Col. could find some things to criticize NO about. Being soft does not hit the radar.

Should there be any assumed risk in life itself? Can we remove risk from everthing? Should we? The NFL is a watered down version of what football should be. There are equipment changes and head up rules that certainly have made sense over the years. But lets be honest, Football is being watered down to were it going to be touch before long. Does anyone assume PERSONAL liability and acknowledge the risk before participating in anything, or do they need someone to blame.

South only has a handful of Seniors I think. There are several kids that have quit that need to come back. I believe that they will be fairly young. I have tried to ask around to see what the will have and how they expect to be but I have not received much response. They do have a very nice new complex!

First of all, the Horse - Collar rule was instituted in the NFL because of million dollar skill players getting hurt. Will high school start instituting rules like the NFL to protect the QB's? There is an assumed risk associated with playing football. If we continue to try to remove all risk...would we have soccer? As far as the coaches boxes. I honestly have no problem with that. My problem is with enforcement. Sideline "A" gets a by the book official and sideline "B" gets someone that is not a stickler on that rule. If sideline "B" is not warned or not moved back, then they gain an unfair advantage over "A". If "A" argues he could get an unsportsmanlike penalty and it snowball from there. The officials must be consistent in enforcing this rule. I was around several instances last year where this happened. It should not take someone out of their game, but being human it can.
