Dave Weston out at Holy Cross

Featured Replies

Dave Weston was not asked to return to Louisville Holy Cross after five seasons and a 41-20 record. I wonder if they already have someone in mind.

Not sure why they let him go. He has done a good job at Holy Cross. They have to have someone in mind.

WOW . Where do you get your information ???? Interesting , especially beinng that he is such a class individual . Has to be about wins/losses I would think . Would love to know who they have in mind for a replacement . Maybe hiring from within ? Very quality staff from what I am told . Interesting to see how this plays out being that Holy Cross has gotten a lot of talk about being on the rise and ver young .

This comes strictly from rumor land, but isn't the future of the school in doubt?

The future of the school is not in doubt in any way , shape , or form . Enrollment is way up and everything seems to be on the right track . I was told that they wanted more than just a 1-2 game effort in the playoffs . Striuctly numbers in that 7-5 records arfe not up to par anymore .

I wasn't making it up
I didn't mean to imply you making up the coaching situation, I was stating that I had heard rumors that the school might not make it a but for a few more years. I had heard that through a coach of another team who had heard it from a Holy Cross coach of a different sport, so it wasn't first hand knowledge, but if cougar is correct than that isn't the issue.

Then they better fire the Jim's and Joe's and not the coach.

Were did Dave coach before Holy Cross? His he more offensive or defensive minded? Was he a postion coach?

I saw the article in the Courier today... Let's see....a winning percentage of over .667 over five years and a District Coach of the Year award this year...obviously, he's a worthless bum!!

You never know what's going on behind the scenes, but this looks like a big mistake to me. I've seen Weston's teams the past few years, and they've always been disciplined and well-coached.

I have seen Coach Weston work at practice, games, fundraisers, etc. He is a class individual with a passion for the game and the best interest of his kids in mind. Oh, and by the way, he wins games with the cards he is dealt. What more does a coach have to do? I think there are alot of schools who would benefit greatly from having Weston (or any coach of his stature and character) on their staff or heading their program!

Don't take this the wrong way because I don't know the man or situation at the school...but when you're the class of your district it's not that hard to win district coach of the year. That's not exactly as big an honor as it used to be since the districts have been watered down so much.

He was an assistant at Holy Cross for quite a few years before becoming head coach.
