Bulldogs win big. Was this game ever in doubt?

The game was in doubt until very late. JH led just 24-23 when Oldham turned the ball over inside its own 10 and gift-wrapped a score for them and let things get away. Bulldogs got some cheap stuff late...very competitive ballgame.

ColonelMike is right. The game was closer than the score indicates. Oldham Co. has a very solid team, #40 is the best LB I've seen all year and #20RB and #3 QB were great competitors. OC is a very hard nosed football team!

 

As expected JH's speed was too much on offense, and their Def. was able to slow the OC. Offense down enough to win the game. If JH continues to play as they have the last three weeks, they will be very hard to beat. Looking forward to the Doss game next week, should be a good one!

A few more details for those who missed it...score was 24-23 with about 8+ left...JH had just blocked a PAT to maintain the 1 point lead...Oldham kicked off and JH got a nice return to about midfield, but fumbled...in the scramble for the loose ball, a JH player got hold of it and raced the rest of the way for the TD! Oldham got two more possessions, and committed turnovers on both. (note that turnovers was NOT an Oldham problem all season...they had 6 turnovers vs. Madison Central and 7 total in the other 10 games!) JH turned both turnovers into points.

 

I was told one of the last two turnovers came inside the OC 10, so JH got a big gift there...

 

No excuses for OC...the Colonels knew they had to play a superb game to beat the Bulldogs, and they did for 3 1/2 quarters...but you can't give the super-talented JH offense any breaks, and the Colonels did in those final moments...

 

Congrats to the Bulldogs on a hard-earned win, and best of luck the rest of the way in the 5A playoffs!

 

For OC - kudos on a TREMENDOUS season! You guys have returned Oldham to the ranks of the elite teams in your class!

Couldn't agree more. #40 and #20 are extremely tough, and OC can be very proud of their performance. The game was much closer than the final score indicates.

Very Proud of Coach Brown and his staff having this type of season while putting in a new Offense and new defense and getting through all of the off season distractions. I look forward to seeing Ichiro, Dylan and Chad playing at the next level.

 

It looks like OC is back, 5 A foes better watch out!
