Not even a scrimmage level matchup. Fast forward the season to Mayfied vs. Crittenden County the only challenge on the schedule. That is unless is rains this year like it did last year for the Caldwell game.

Can a One-Dimensional Offense Win a State Title?
FalconBacker replied to mcpapa's topic in KY Football (High School)
Pretty tough to do, but possible. I am most familiar with 2A football in KY. Green County and Murray are examples of two solid teams in the past couple of years that could run the ball all over the field, but couldn't get to the big game because they couldn't throw the ball. Murray was undefeated last season and running the ball got them within 7 points of winning the region, but their lack of balance finally caught up with them. -

Bluegrasspreps Class 2A Rankings (September 20th)
FalconBacker replied to Ram's topic in KY Football (High School)
Right now FC doesn't deserve to be ranked in the top #10. FC has the talent to be ranked in the top # 3, but unrealized potential means nothing. FC should be respectable the rest of the way, even though so far this season it would appear we are playing for the #1 pick in the draft. -

Murray vs Trigg County predictions

Murray wins this game. Hard to tell how good Murray is with them playing so many winless 1A teams. Their only regular season test will be Crittenden County and hopefully that 1A school will rise to the challenge. -

The loss of these two coaches can't be overstated. (Hood and former master of the offense Marciano) As I stated earlier, Coach Berner really needs to start calling all offensive plays himself. FC is struggling mightily with the offensive play calling. Marciano was like a chess master that was thinking 3 to 5 plays in the future, calling a play now to set-up something in the future. That is not there now; there is a struggle just to get a play from the box to the sideline to the QB in a timely manner. An embarrassing example was at Ft. Knox last week. End of 1st quarter, changing ends of the field, resetting the chains, sipping on some gatorade, etc... This process normally takes a couple of minutes in every game. Well, the offense had the in between quarter break, stood out on the field at the line of scrimmage and took a delay of game penalty to start the 2nd quarter because they couldn't get a play signaled in to the QB. A delay of game penalty to start a quarter, almost unheard of, but that is how things have gone this year. -

We have our arch nemesis Owensboro Catholic lurking in our district and they seem to have recaptured their mojo. If FC does not get things going, the Aces will enjoy their trip to FC this October. We pretty much feel the same way toward OC that you Monroe fans feel about Green County. This may be the year that one Falcon squad has to pass the baton to the other Falcon squad to get the job done, we will see what happens. Good Luck to your MC Falcons!! -

I really don't know. Talent all over the place, just simply can't get a complete game out of this group. FC completely shut-down PT in the first half and was dominating the game, 10-0 at half. 2nd half starts and all the undisciplined garbage play resurfaces and they lose the second half 41 - 0. Inexcusable turnovers in the second half, passing game a disaster, simply can't have more interceptions returned for TDs then TD pass receptions, not going to lead to a favorable result. Coach Berner probably needs to take over the offensive play calling (not going to elaborate on that) and make some personnel changes on the field. As the saying goes, "to continue doing the exact same thing while expecting a different result is crazy!" Last night, this team definitely snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. -

No excuses for FC!! We have watched players come and go every year with graduation just like any other school. 2 Mr. Football selections in five years, 3 state titles with vastly different players on the field in 2009 & 2008 compared to 2007 including at the QB position. There is plenty of talent on this current football team. This team has a litany of issues but there is zero excuse for what happens on Friday nights. -

Mayfield (1A) @ Graves Co (6A) Predictions
FalconBacker replied to WHO'S NEXT?'s topic in KY Football (High School)
Mayfield by 3 TDs. -
Two similar teams with lots of talent, speed and athleticism. PT just like FC has all three every year the question has always been will PT show up and play to their potential. FC has not played to their potential yet this season. So, will both teams show up to play? Neither team show up to play? One of the two defending state champs show up to play on the level they are capable of? We will see. I am going with FC by a TD, could be more, but they would have to play to their potential for it to be more then a TD.
