I don't think they were ever on, looking back over their body of work this year I think we were all blinded by their past success. They are not a very good football team right now.

So, is it an issue of graduation? Service families leaving? Seems like we've been accustomed to Ft. Campbell being a powerhouse; this season has taken me by surprise.

Fort Campbell actually dominated the early stages of the game and led 10-0 at the half. Tilghman had something like 30 yards of offense in the first half.

 

Tilghman's Josh Forrest (a UK commitment) scored four times ... he caught two TD pass and had an interception return and fumble return. Fort Campbell's quarterback was picked off three times in the second half, and two of them were returned for scores. The Falcons had four turnovers in the second half.

 

Last year, Fort Campbell scored three times in the first minute of the game ... this year, Tilghman had three touchdowns in a span of about 90 seconds. Forrest caught a touchdown pass, then returned a fumble for a touchdown and then a defensive lineman picked off a pass and took it to the house.

Fort Campbell isn't that bad of a team ... they insist on trying to throw the ball 20-something times a game, and the quarterback (a receiver last year) isn't very accurate. I'm sure they're trying to develop a passing game, but they're a long way from having one.

 

Aaron Hills, the quarterback, ran for over 150 yards.

 

Their best player, Tre Powell, is out with an ACL tear and is expected back later in the season.

After seeing Tilghman play Mayfield a couple of weeks ago, I knew they had alot of talent and would be a tough team for anyone. Wouldn't surprise me to see them win it all in 3a again this year. Very solid team, especially defensively. They close on the run as well as any team I've seen and have a strong line and alot of speed on the outside from there corners and LBs and Forrest back at safety makes it extremely hard for teams to pass the ball in the middle with his size and instincts. If there QB can improve his passing accuracy and they get a little better kicking game, they'll be tough as nails.

westsider, what do you think happens in the Warren Central matchup next week? I know they're not the same team, but last year gives me nightmares. I had penciled this in as a loss at the beginning of the year, but does Warren Central have a shot?

I don't see Fort Campbell pushing Warren Central, to be honest ...

No excuses for FC!! We have watched players come and go every year with graduation just like any other school. 2 Mr. Football selections in five years, 3 state titles with vastly different players on the field in 2009 & 2008 compared to 2007 including at the QB position. There is plenty of talent on this current football team. This team has a litany of issues but there is zero excuse for what happens on Friday nights.

I really don't know. Talent all over the place, just simply can't get a complete game out of this group. FC completely shut-down PT in the first half and was dominating the game, 10-0 at half. 2nd half starts and all the undisciplined garbage play resurfaces and they lose the second half 41 - 0. Inexcusable turnovers in the second half, passing game a disaster, simply can't have more interceptions returned for TDs then TD pass receptions, not going to lead to a favorable result. Coach Berner probably needs to take over the offensive play calling (not going to elaborate on that) and make some personnel changes on the field. As the saying goes, "to continue doing the exact same thing while expecting a different result is crazy!"

This FC team was dominating in the first half. It would have been better had they gotten one more score in before, but they couldn't get it in. First half Falcons bore some resemblence to the team that went 15-0 and captured a third straight state title last year, secon half Blue Tornadoes looked a lot like the defending 3A state champs.....the Falcons just couldn't get it done.

 

It seemed that the running game was almost abandoned in the second half, relying on a struggling QB that is doing his best to hit receivers that may, or may not, be running the right routes.

 

From a fans perspective it was extremely difficult to watch these boys go through this......but they need to get off of their laurels (heck, if you can rest on your laurels, they must be snoozing on 'em) and play some football.

It seems looking at the posts that the Falcons are in bit of a funk...your district is not as tough as your schedule has been so things may look up for these guys. I was so looking forward to another Falcon on Falcon semi, but maybe I am thinking to far down the road. Our Region is stacked this year and may be a really tough road to see ya'all, and it seems if these boys do not start playing 4 quarters you may not get there either! Keep there spirits up and remember their real season begins next week!!! Go Falcons.................

We have our arch nemesis Owensboro Catholic lurking in our district and they seem to have recaptured their mojo. If FC does not get things going, the Aces will enjoy their trip to FC this October. We pretty much feel the same way toward OC that you Monroe fans feel about Green County.

This may be the year that one Falcon squad has to pass the baton to the other Falcon squad to get the job done, we will see what happens. Good Luck to your MC Falcons!!
