I had forgotten about OC. We use to hate playing them when we had to schedule them years ago. It was usually a butt whipping.....them on us! I just pray you guys can pull together and play well. This may be our team next year!!!

I think it's a perfect storm.

 

Fort Campbell still has talent, but the past 2-3 years they were deep with playmakers. One of 7-8 guys could take the ball to the house on any one play. They have maybe 2-3 this year.

 

The same on defense. 7-8 guys could step in and make the big play when they needed it. They aren't getting that this year.

 

The Falcons also don't have the core group of leaders they have had in recent years. You find them looking around waiting for someone else to take the leadership role.

 

Can't overlook the injury to Tre Powell.

 

I think the Falcons are still trying to adjust to the loss of assistant coaches Marciano and Lowe in the offseason. New playcalling, different styles and philosophies, etc. I liken it to Florida losing Dan Mullen to Mississippi State. The Gators are still good, but look at them this year on offense. Not the same kind of offensive firepower despite having the talent on the field.

 

Who knows? Maybe Fort Campbell is this year's Paducah Tilghman

About half their starters, including UK commitment Josh Forrest at receiver and safety, and a lot of guys that played part-time roles. As usual, Tilghman is loaded with speed.

Stats wise FC didnt do a bad job on PT at all but those turnovers caused from trying to pass were a killer in the second half. I am guessing FC is trying at all costs to get the passing game in order before the district and playoffs start. I suspect they are better than it appears and when they get Tre back and a few more games undertheir belts they may become a force

I can't help but to agree with Toothpick on this one! FC has played a gruesom schedule so far. Things will look better next week, they just need momentum!!!!!!!!

The loss of these two coaches can't be overstated. (Hood and former master of the offense Marciano) As I stated earlier, Coach Berner really needs to start calling all offensive plays himself. FC is struggling mightily with the offensive play calling. Marciano was like a chess master that was thinking 3 to 5 plays in the future, calling a play now to set-up something in the future. That is not there now; there is a struggle just to get a play from the box to the sideline to the QB in a timely manner.

An embarrassing example was at Ft. Knox last week. End of 1st quarter, changing ends of the field, resetting the chains, sipping on some gatorade, etc... This process normally takes a couple of minutes in every game. Well, the offense had the in between quarter break, stood out on the field at the line of scrimmage and took a delay of game penalty to start the 2nd quarter because they couldn't get a play signaled in to the QB. A delay of game penalty to start a quarter, almost unheard of, but that is how things have gone this year.
