4a Logan County (1-3) hosts the 2a Monroe County Falcons (4-0). Monroe County is coming off a sloppy win over 5a Barren County and Logan is coming off a good win over Metcalfe County.

Who wins and why?

Even though Monroe beat the Barren Co Trojans with 4 turnovers in the red zone I feel the Falcons will get their stuff together this week and play some very good football. Logan is coming off their only win against a very weak Metcalfe Co Hornets.

Monroe 48

Logan 13

Monroe in a sleeper of a game, no challenge.

I hope the Falcons easy schedule doesn't come back to bite them later. FC had a cream puff schedule in 2005, went undefeated until Owensboro Catholic caught us sleeping in the playoffs.

Feel that Monroe will win this game in an easy matter if they come ready to play. Logan has same QB from last year he was pretty good player so we will have to contain his passing. We have had easy schedule but the last four games will have us ready for the playoffs.

Yep the last four games for the Falcons are,

@Franklin-Simpson (4A #5)

@Glasgow (2A #9)

@Green Co. Unranked but will be a challenge

Allen Co. Scottsville (4A#6) @ home

I believe the Falcons will win this game relatively easy, my hope is that they look good doing it and for once play up to their potential, not down to their opponent.

I've really been impressed with our defense so far this season and hope to see it continue to improve.

Roe 49

Logan Co. 12

Monroe County will win this game and continue their flawless record with a subpar schedule. Not sure the teams they have played thus far will prepare them for the district they are in. Glasgow and Green County is by far better than anyone they have played already. They too would be undefeated with this schedule. The last four games for Monroe will help to prepare them for the playoffs but may be lucky if those four games doesn't turn into losses. What will it do to the team if they start out 6-0 and end up 6-4 right before the most important time of the year?

Soft Schedule so far is agreed. Wayne is down this year, Barren has the athletes to be good they just are not, Adair is always bad, and Edmonson is a sleeper team in 3a. Edmonson will surprise a lot of teams this year and will go pretty far in the playoffs. The only teams Monroe is worried about is Glasgow and Green. Glasgow being the better of the two in our opinion. Franklin-simpson and Allen will be tough but if we drop those games...oh well! The good thing is we have a bi-week before Glasgow and Green thus giving us two weeks to prepare for the scotties and then the dragons. Things will be interesting come district time!!!!!:thumb:

I think Monroe's schedule has been ok for them in the past. Good teams beat the teams they are supposed to. I love when people harp on the schedule then cry when their team gets beat like 56-20 or something.

Welcome Eric, glad to have you on the site. By the way I completely agree with you. How does our schedule help us prepare for district any less than getting beat to death help other teams prepare for district. What these teams bring to the Falcons is play preperation as well as getting the younger depth ready for some highly anticipated playing time. Monroe is 3 deep at most all skilled positions, thus allowing the depth to get valuable playing time. This will be very crucial come district when other teams starters are getting tired!!!!:sssh:

I agree TSYoung, depth does help play a major role when district games come around. However, in my opinion it does help to play stronger competition when preparing for the athletes and physicality that Class 2A District 3 holds. Playing up classes give teams the opportunity to see a different variety of athletes. Some are big, some are fast, some quick, and some just all out better. This plays dividends when the playoffs come around. Winning this district is tough and even tougher winning the region. It should turn out to be quite interesting between 3 teams and in the region, 3-5 teams. District play starts next week...good luck to all !!!

I don't mind our schedule. Wayne and Barren are pretty good teams and Edmonson is a very good team and a sleeper, as for Green and there tough schedule, I ask this, how has that helped in the past? Is getting to the regional championship enough in Green Co.? Is losing in that game to teams you beat earlier in the season acceptable (see Metcalfe 2007 and Monroe 2009). I guess my point is Monroe's schedule is what it is, and for the last 2 years it’s been enough. I know Green fans really played up their schedule last year and that "tough schedule" got Green beat by 4 tds at home to a team they had previously beaten by 7, where was the benefit of the tough schedule in that game.
