Will Crittenden County remain undefeated for another week against 2A Caldwell County?

This could be the best game in western Kentucky ... two border rivals that appear to be pretty close to evenly matched. They have never been district rivals in the past, best I can remember, but they will be starting in 2011.

Should be a dandy. I think the Rockets may be a little better team, but, it's at Caldwell, so, that could even things up. I think Crittenden will take this one by a slight margin..Rockets 26 Tigers 21

This game could probably go two touchdowns either way.

 

Caldwell has played the tougher schedule, but last week's blowout loss to Lone Oak likely didn't do much for the Caldwell psyche.

 

Crittenden has had it pretty easy the last two weeks with McLean and Webster.

 

There's only one common opponent — Hopkins Central. Crittenden had to come from behind to beat the Storm while Caldwell built a big lead then had to hold on late.

 

The Tigers will probably need all of their home-field advantage to pull out the win. But I'll take the Tigers 33-29.

And, just for the record, Caldwell and Crittenden have never been district adversaries. Caldwell has always been in Class 2A and Crittenden has always been in 1A. At least until next year!

Actually, Crittenden County played in 3A in the early 1980s.

Crittenden was 3A? I didn't realize that.

 

I always thought they were 1A when Caldwell played them.

In the early 1980s, the 3A district in the west was Calloway County, Crittenden County, Lone Oak, Reidland, Union County and Webster County. It wasn't particularly strong, but it was pretty balanced.

 

Hopkinsville and Paducah Tilghman moved down from 4A in 1983, and Crittenden went back to A ... the Rockets won the state title two years later,

Did Crittenden play up to try to avoid Murray and Heath? I think they were both strong back then.

 

I'm pretty sure Mayfield was playing up in 2A at the time.

At the time, all three were in 2A, I think ... I assume it was primarily because of Mayfield.
