Loose Rhythm.... Part of the problem is that the Courier doesn't have much of a Friday night sports department. For years they have personnel that knew the area and all teams. Last week they needed to know the Cincy St. X mascot ( the Bombers) which is ok, but wanted to make sure Lou St. X was the Tigers. They do not place much effort in their sports page if the game is not covered by Jason or Bob White on a interim basis.

Hey uk#1 ...how many fans will SK bring Friday night? Isn't there a bingo or fish fry in NKY Friday night that will be a better option than having to witness this?

Way to call him out Avid! He ought to bring his alumni card back to Poplar Level. Speaking of alumni...Vic Anderson had 93 yards and 1 TD in UL's win today. Also, Deuce Finch just finished with 243 yards rushing and 2 TD's in Boston College's win over Maryland today. He also had two fumbles in a game that way played in snow, rain and mud.

Having seen both teams in person this year I predict a 42 - 21 Trinity win. Moeller got ahead of Lou X 14 -0 in the first quarter. Alex Mattingly was spectacular in the 2nd and 3rd quarters before being injured. He brought X to within 14 -10 before the injury and had Moeller on their heels and a huge upset was looming. Hats off to Moeller's coach who came over to the X sideline after the game to console Mattingly. Nice to see such respect from a gracious winner these days. If Trinity keeps Medaris in check they will win going away.

The bottom half of the baracket is WEAK!! Good job KHSAA in providing another lousy 6A playoff scenario again this year.

I heard Tim Pogue was a great player for Highlands that won a state title in I think was 1968. Anybody remember Tim?

If War is unable to play for Manual that will be a huge loss. If the St. X team that played against Male keeps improving, I would see them winning 18 or 19 out of 20 games.

Yes, John SPears and Tony Burke said Lamondray Clemons was playing some defense in order to get more speed to the unit. Sounded as if he had a good game.

St. X always broadcasts from the Male pressbox. Male's AD, announcer and spotter are all wonderful people that are there for the kids and the school. They always treat the visitors well.

This is typical of football in KY right now. The six classes have weakened the system, Male is definitely down and X and T go out of state for tougher competition. Jefferson County football is a shell of what it was in the mid-90's. Male, Fern Creek, Fairdale, Manual, PRP and Ballard all provided top flight competition for the private schools. No more players like Mike Bush, Chris Redman, Montrell Jones, Tony Driver, Sergio Spencer or Chris Barclay at Male recently. It wasn't that long ago that things began to change in Jefferson County.

Just curious - I stopped by St. X. to buy tickets for the Varsity game tomorrow night and saw Trinity's freshman team arrive there about 3:45pm for a 5:30 game. Seems pretty early, is this the norm?

Yeah I remember that one. Johnny Meihaus and Paul "Ears" Young weren't too happy that next week at practice. Started a run of three straight "X" wins. In '67 Steve Ising returned the second half kickoff for a TD that broke open a tight game into a 34-12 Tiger win at Manual Stadium. The next year Ron Steele intercepted a pitchout intended for Alan Hennessey and returned it for the winning TD in the last minute of a 19-12 Tigers win over Trinity's first State Championship team. This was the first game in the series played at the Fairgrounds and the crowd was close to 20,0000. The following year St. X defeated Trinity 12-6 on their way to an unbeaten season. This team ranks near the top of the Tigers' all time best teams. They hold the significance of never trailing an opponent the entire season. Not many teams can make that claim. These games became the foundation for the series as it has evolved today as it became the game everyone planned to see in the Louisville area for years to come. There were a lot of great players on both teams in these days!

Funny how no mention of Beatty when trading films years ago did not give X the wide angle views which showed the pass routes being run. They only gave the close up film showing line blocking schemes. Heard that this was the case for several T opponents. They openly traded their films only to get useless film from T.

It was a remarkable game! It's great that St. X and Central play. hats off to coaches Scroggins and Glaser and the administrators of both schools. The crowd was large and in to it! Coach Scroggins has done a great job in putting talented teams on the field. He has also energized the Central fanbase and they turned out in large numbers. As to the game, the numbers in the Courier-Journal were incorrect. St. X had 192 yards rushing not 70. Sophomore Charles Walker had 108 yards himself. Anothony Wales is well on his way to breaking Derek Homer's career rushing record and I predict he will if he stays healthy because Central will make another deep run in the playoffs. Hats off to QB Gahafer for making a huge throw on 4th down in overtime for the win.

I think St. X wins 31 -20 dependent on whether Mattingly plays or not. They really stepped it up against Moeller after falling behind 14 - 0 in the first quarter. If they can carry over the domination they exhibited against Moeller in the second and third quarters they will prevail against the Jackets. Moeller only had four first downs in the second half mainly due to X running 24 plays in the third quarter to Moeller's seven. The defense needs to contain against the big play by Wales. It's good to see the respect that the coaches and administrators of St. X and Central have for one another. Wish there was more of this in Jefferson County.
