  1. It was a pretty bonehead move going for it on fourth down, on their side of the 50 against Highands....to ice it!
  2. This is a great topic. Kentucky should no longer be called the basketball state. Between UK and Louisville, they've been to maybe one final four in 12 years. The popularity of football is growing in the state of Kentucky, look how many new programs have begun in the last 5-10 years. It is the most popular sport to watch on television and is the American "present time".
  3. Cooper has made great strides in three seasons and will greatly benefit from being reduced to Class 5A. When they return to 6A, more than likely, they will be a much better and more competitive team. But for now, they have a chance to win their district the next several seasons.
  4. RE, I'm not going to debate this with you in public because we've already been down this road.
  5. So the BCPFL finally checked their ego and has done right by the kids and their communities.... Good for Cooper for beginning their own league. Good for BCPFL for saving theirs, for now.
  6. I would have to disagree, 100%. Frisk is on a short list of best backs in NKY, other than Shaun. Kelly is not. I'm not sure the Kelly kid would make a top ten list from his own HS. But this thread is about Shaun and Miles...
  7. I'm a Miles Simpson advocate, but how do you follow up someone questioning his toughness with ^ ??
  8. I think they were very similar backs, except Alexander was a bit bigger, more durable (in HS). Alexander wasn't a bruiser by any means but Simpson appeared to be a bit more fragile. Alexander was a better back but Simpson could fly to the ball defensively.
  9. Simpson is the best in NKY since Alexander, that's been in the past five years right? There were several other good ones, none like him.
  10. This is what I was saying as well. Two teams within the same conference will not play for the national title. You must win you're division in order to do that. It would be different if it were seeded. Trinity would be opposite of X every year, more than likely. I don't hear the SEC complaining, I don't hear the city of Cincinnati complaining. Consider the GCL, they may produce the 3 best teams in the state on a yearly basis. But to be the best in the state, you have to be the best in the city/district/region/conference.
  11. Trinity and X fans always say that they are playing for the state championship. So what does it matter which round they play?
  12. I agree. Segregate the privates from louisville!:clap: Finally, something that makes sense...They can play each other 15x to determine the Private School Champion. Best of 15??:idunno:
  13. Agree to disagree. I believe the lack of a good RB in their offense limited them against good opponents. Dale did not trust streeter and didn't feel Compton was capable. It is a moot point since there was no one even close to Highlands in 5A. My original point was that Trinity has better players this year and would beat Highlands. It would take a strong argument to convince me otherwise.
  14. They more than likely will have the best teams every year but they are in the same city, just miles from each other. They don't allow 2 SEC teams to play in the National Championship just because popular opinion say they are the two best. There is nothing wrong with them playing each other in round 3 instead of round 5. Two teams from the same city should be in the same district or region each and every year.
  15. Right...so the top 4 are accurate, IMO. In another post, you stated NCC is top 5. I would have to believe by the way Mayfield dismantled Beechwood that they are at least even with NCC. So that puts Christian Co. in the bottom 4 of the top 10. ACS played Boyle well and I think Central's speed would be too much. So, my rationale is Christian Co. at 9. :thumb: and I'm sticking to it!
  16. When and where has Compton been a force in a Varsity game? Highlands has no where near the depth they have had in the past or they would have remained a threat to run the football, against quality opponents. IMO, there are very few players from Highlands team that would even start on Trinity's team. They are just that talented.
  17. My prediction is based off the multiple times i have seen highlands play. The only time they perceive to be multi-dimensional is when they play a bad team. Dale had faith in the QB this year and called his number whenever he needed a play. They had all of their best players on Defense, other than Towles, and would not beat Trinity without players like Bruns playing offense. Also, undersized on the defensive line. I can go on...JMO
  18. If you think NCC would beat Male you have way too much respect for 2A football. 1.Trinty 2.Highlands 3.Boyle Co. 4.Male 5.Mayfield 6.Newcath 7.Allen Co. Scottsville 8.Central 9.Christian Co. 10.Belfry
  19. Trinity would win this game. Highlands offense is too one dimensional (Towles w/ no real threat at rb) and Trinity's D Line is too good. The Birds D may be able to contain T's offense but not enough. Congrats to both teams on winning this weekend.
  20. There are a lot of teams that will claim to teach the quarterback to read coverages. But does the quarterback make those checks appropriately? I have seen way too many quarterbacks, on every level (I can recall two passes, one thrown by kevin kolb and one by eli manning) throw out routes in to cover 2 and sure enough a corner is there waiting to take their head off. It is not whether it is being taught, it is whether the player can comprehend.
  21. It's pretty easy in HS, IMO, because most teams run basic man principles (ie. one or zero) or cover 3 zone principles. However, more and more teams have instituted 2 deep or 4 deep zones. When teams start disguising coverages and rotating zones, it becomes almost impossible for a HS quarterback to be able to recognize this. I don't believe it is necessary to be taught to read coverages to be an effective HS quarterback because it is more important to teach fundamentals and footwork.
  22. 6A:Trinity 5A:Highlands 4A:Boyle Co 3A:Central 2A:NCC 1A:Mayfield TB: 56
  23. Ryle passed early and often, not just when they fell behind. Passing the ball early helped keep some drives alive, it also helped kill a few...but thats what throwing ball gives you. I'm not sure how down St. X was this year, i just think other people got better. Sure they werent as good as last season but last season they were special. As for comparing the two, most seem to think Ryle would be able to beat St. X but it is all about matchups. Could Ryle run the football against St. X? They ran it all over everyone this season, including Highlands. If St. X were able to stop Ryle's rushing game, they would beat them.
