  1. Yes they certainly did. And Bo Jackson and Neon Deion played professional baseball and football. Nowadays you can't even find very many athletes that play HS baseball and football. In the era of specialization, it hurts a players development learning two different positions. Not to mention the durablity/endurance factor. I'm just saying, if Simpson had to carry the ball 30x per game, how effective would he be on defense?
  2. Haha...you name two SK players then possibly the best player in NKY. It does not benefit most teams when players play both sides of the football, especially in 6A. How did Simpson do as a ballcarrier and defender against HC? You think it may have effected his offensive output? And Collinsworth does leave the field. They have two other guys that take carries out of the backfield and do exceptionally well.
  3. 3 months later...Top performers in NKY. Rushing- Sowder, Zach Scott 201 1177 10 68 Buckler, Ricky Bellevue 123 1000 14 0 Bradley, Dvontae Cooper 120 989 13 60 Quainoo, Charles Boone County 154 933 8 77 Elliott, Travis Ryle 126 897 14 80 Passing- Kremer, Michael Campbell County 243 134 1608 13 0 7 0 Wilson, Ryan Dixie Heights 217 136 1476 13 68 6 0 West, Nick Conner 161 97 1424 10 75 6 0 Brown, Demitri Newport 135 62 1060 13 80 11 0 Hempel, Conner Ryle 106 67 1027 10 58 3 0 Receiving Fugate, Trenton Ryle 22 527 6 58 Buten, Nick Highlands 22 499 5 71 Connelly, Alex Covington Catholic 32 380 3 37 Carroll, Zach Simon Kenton 18 374 4 54 Smith, Matt Campbell County 23 371 3 0 Any others we should be watching out for?
  4. With all kidding aside, the only way this scenario plays out is if the flu comes back to Union. I forsee a defensive player to be named later, attempting to tackle Elliot by his jersey as he is drug into the endzone...just ask campbell
  5. It doesn't matter what league cooper is playing in, they are not ready. Sure, they can compete with Scott, maybe Holmes and Newport, and several of the 1A schools. That is because Cooper has some talent and are headed in the right direction. But I am tired of hearing about being a smaller school. You are a public high school in Boone Co. If the administration allows the coaching staff to do their job, you will eventually (??) be competing for a playoff berth. Accept the situation. It's called developing interest in the program...that usually occurs through winning not whining. :thumb:
  6. If this were a college football/basketball poll and St. X ,Highlands, Louisville X and Trinity were the top four teams in the poll...Highlands would become the unanimous #1 due to the undefeated record..
  7. Good thing the state of Kentucky does not operate by the BCS...Ryle may have scored 90 to maintain their #2 ranking. Since they don't oh well. As stated above, we'll find out next week who is second behind Highlands
  8. I personally feel it was an outstanding accomplishment knocking off St. X. Ohio always looks down on KY teams, typically deserving. This preseason there was a lot of hype about potential on this side of the river. It's nice to see some the hype become reality and much more still left to decide. However, I would root for every school in the state of KY against the bluebirds.
  9. Just curious Highlands fans, who have seen all of their games...We all know Cincy X is a very good football team, so congratulations on that victory. But how would you compare the KY 6A teams you have defeated this year? Manual, Ryle, and Boone??
  10. He may have been, but he is not near as talented...Boone had a great rushing attack last year but their tailback rushed the ball 30+ times per game. That may be the reason for his all-state status being higher.
  11. Maybe he is the first good back they've seen this year..
  12. Dixie will score some points...but they will not stop the run. Highlands 38 Dixie 17
  13. Wait just one minute here...Conner was predicted by nearly as many to win this football game. Conner jumped out to a 14-0 lead. If you don't expect SK to score as many points as they can, you are nutz. Maybe they felt they had to prove that Conner didnt belong on the field with them this year. BTW, who ever said SK had any class anyway...
  14. According to the paper he had 112 on 19 carries. He had two runs of 35 and 45 yards on their scoring drive...hmm. So after those two runs he had 17 carries for 32 yards. Bradley is big and physical, it's a shame he will not get recognized in 6A football.
  15. Then maybe if Cincy X beats Highlands worse than they beat T, it will be enough!
  16. Is that the same Zeke Pike who starts outside linebacker on Varsity? Must not be a very valuable player to risk injury for a Saturday game.
  17. It would not make sense to rank any team over another team based on an uncommon opponent. But to assume that Trinity is down would be crazy. They have yet to have a down team under the Beatty era and the odds are that they will be okay come mid November. And if some team where to walk in and beat T, allow their opponent to enjoy the win and have some pride.
  18. Conner is not bad. NKY 6A is improved greatly from last year, with maybe the exception of BC. Conner will not stop Sk's running game. Sk may not stop Conner's multi-attack. SK 45-35
  19. Not a chance...24? As much as Cooper has improved from last year, Ryle has improved the same. Big stats for the Raiders Friday night in Union.
  20. That is my fault. Some_guy was implying that there was not any speed in NKY. I was simply trying to defend SK by using Highlands as an example. But SK has speed too. So do a few other schools in NKY.
  21. Holmes is 4-0 against Lloyd, Cooper, Bellevue, Bourbon...and with probable wins against PC and Franklin Co., 6-0. Then they will lose to Dixie by 4+ TD's. I think NCC's and Beechwood's programs have earned a little respect over the years and should be ranked ahead of Holmes. But I guess we can give them the benefit of the doubt but they are fortunate to be playing in 4A this year.
  22. West is very good. But c'mon, their only legitimate contest has been Dixie.
