I look at this thread every day not knowing what to say, just hoping to read that something positive has happened. It really bothers me since I love football & hunting. So tragic! May the very hand of God reach down and bless all involved.... It sure is heartwarming to see all of the responses from fellow BGPers.

You guys have done an excellent job at the middle school level. The future looks bright. Hopefully this year starts the big turn around. Kudos to you and Youth Coach. (Nice avatar YC. Never quite understood the first one:D).

I'll leave claims like that to you. But will say, the kid has a tremendous amout of heart and works very hard as do many others on the team. I just have not seen a schedule for 09' and thought there was some where to see it.

Excellent post..... I'll add just a little. Lineman have to have a great amount of pride and self-satisfaction. How many are interviewed before or after a game? How many are in the paper Saturday morning? How many times does the crowd roar due to a touchdown breaking block? How many walk the hallways at school with the "Hot Girls?" Like Ram, I also played most every position to be played. The lineman's role will probably never receive enough attention IMO. But the games are decided in the trenches. :ylsuper:

Where can I see this schedule HDE? Corbin & Knox? :scared: Lee again? I'm going to stick my neck out and say 7-3 in 09'. At least the potential is there. I believe Knox will be a contender for the title in 09'. VERY impressive football team.

Trust me, he will call you out on your adjectives. I think it was the word "great" he got me on. :sssh:

A good summary.

14 Seniors that I can think of coming back. I can't think of a so called "playmaker" in the whole group, just guys that love to play the game. I know there is a good number in the weight room already which is exactly what it takes to be successful. I'm sure they will get the 2 wins needed for the playoffs , but not the goal I/M/O. The question is, who will play QB? Pennington (who is a FB/TB), Carr, Saragas? A decent pasing game would sure compliment an established running game. Several younger guys got game experience last year and should help out. No prediction of W/L from me, but I look for a solid football team that can play with anyone on the schedule. :ylsuper:

Hey DC. Where have you been? Being a new BGPer, I thought football talk might end when the season ended. Now I'm a BGP junkee....At least my wife thinks so.

Touching story. Those young men will always remember it. With the Lord's help it could turn things around in their lives. :thumb:

Some of our boys said that All District players were announced at school before Christmas break. But, I have not seen anything in the local paper or heard any more about it. :confused:

Hate it! :mad: Those 3 up front get doubled, crossed, kicked out etc. Unless you have some very hungry backers, you give up the run. At least we gave up the run over and over using it. :confused: Not to mention very little pressure on the QB against the pass.

It would be hard to do offensively because there are no stats other than what the RB's get. Much easier defensively. I agree that WYMT does a very good job covering Mountain teams. Ram, I also love the trench warriors...being an old blocking TE myself. I've always enjoyed the block that created the run better than the run itself.

I can't hold it in....... My son is a lineman, and probably out of position for his size (6' 215lbs). But I have watched this kid open enormous holes and drive people 10 -20 yards off the line of scrimmage this past year. Often outsized by 50 even 100 pounds. Truly remarkable. I don't expect coverage nor does he. But these teams with good rushing numbers got them from the line opening holes. I believe games are won and lost on the line of scrimmage. The guys in the trenches deserve some individual recognition. :ylsuper:

I would not have a pulse to miss one of my son's games regardless of who they play. When he graduates next year, I will still go to a local HS game simply because I love HS football. :ylsuper:

A couple of juniors from 1A Harlan that bear watching and deserve mention: Kenny Pennington 6'1" 190lb. QB/LB Top notch LB. James Hill 6'1 220lb. OL/DL Would probably shine as a FB but plays where needed.

Oh yeah...... The bunny cracks me up. I've been waiting for the chance to insert it. Thought my last post was a good opportunity. How is #26? Getting ready for college? #54 tells me he is a great student and has a very high GPA. Best wishes to him. He's a fine young man. :thumb:
