I had the opportunity to watch all 6 State Finals this weekend. Of course, these are thought to be the 2 best teams from each class, with some exceptions. This was the first time in years that I was able to evaluate the level and quality of play at all 6 classes.

Often we become disgruntled if the offense doesn't score every possession or the defense gives up too many yards or the kickoff isn't a touchback. Additionally, we only see 6A teams, an occasional 5A team and state powers from Ohio and Tennessee during the season. Accordingly, we become myopic on our team's perfromance as it relates to our competitors.

After watching the best 2 teams from the other 5 classes play, we should never complain about the level of play at Trinity. Some teams couldn't even kick it to the 35 yard line. The long snaps looked like knuckleballs. The offenses were simplistic and the tackling was abhorrent. Penalty flags littered the field. Some schools couldn't throw the ball at all, let alone a 20 yard out. There were sloppy play and turnovers the whole weekend. Trinity is leaps and bounds above all of the teams I witnessed this weekend.

I think that, just as in life, you often have to step away from your environment to appreciate how good you really have it. I encourage you all to watch a lower class game on replay (ICN 2) or next year during the bye week just to appreciate Trinity's effectiveness. A belated thanks goes out to all at Trinity who have gotten this program to a place were few in the Nation have ever been. :thumb:

Great post and great perspective. I too was present and saw all 6 games first hand and concur.

Spoke with some gentlemen from Bell Co. They were very nice men. Understandbly they were very proud of their team. They expressed an interest (and were not kidding) about playing T. They thought they could possible "whip us." I smiled and made no reply.

I salute and applaud Centrals accomplishment - but think it may be a bit premature for them to be mentioned "in the same breath" as our program. A good Goal although.

If anything - we may tend to get a bit spoiled at times. We know the level of performance and execution we have become accustomed to. What a tremendous accomplishment that OUR COACHING STAFF and KIDS are able to attain that level year in and year out.

Congratulations again to the Rocks - and how proud and fortunate we truly are to have a program like ours.

Did not realize you were a T supporter - or perhaps it is the "reading thing" about the disclaimer that gave you trouble.

He is clearly entitled to his own Opinion - which is well founded I can assure you. The man knows of which he speaks. Substantiate something untrue in his post.

And this should be the case when you have the numbers you have to chose from. You have more kids in 9-12 than our school has K-12(little over 1,000).You have more boys participate in football than we have in a grade and .....

you get the idea.

If you are just realizing this I am shocked.

Nice post OS.

Not every school has 1,400 or so boys from which to draw ... in fact, only one other school in this state does. It's no surprise that they are the two dominant programs in this state.

No more of the arrogance comments.

We need to stick the facts. If you disagree with CR's take on the other teams make a case.

Well, is what CentreRocks says true or not? By the way, he is directing his comments to Trinity fans. Of course all are presumed welcome to join in the discussion.

Why do posts clearly marked for the thoughts of a select group get so many "visitors". CR didn't ask for the general public to critique his opinion. I happen to agree with him, and T fans should be allowed a place to bask in the sunlight.... It was claerly marked! Instead of bogarting his thread start a Trinity Hater thread and have at it. Or, think of ways to help your favorite team get better and compete. Or, look up some "J" works in the dictionary , like jealousy.

Is it the talent level at Trinity that makes them dominant year in and year out? Or is it the coaching staff that has the ability to take kids to the next level? In other words if Trinity's coaching staff switched places with a coaching staff from a 2A or 3A school, not at all saying the coaching staffs at this level aren't good, do you think that team will perform in a similar fashion as Trinity is now? The players may not be as big or as fast at the smaller level as they are at Trinity, but as far as the execution is concerned, do you think it will be similar?

It just seems to me that the Trinity coaching staff is the best in Kentucky. They are able to make every aspect, from passing patterns to how tight the spiral is on a long snap, look easy. Every athlete at Trinity is very gifted, but without a good coaching staff no one will be to understand just how gifted they are. IMO

You are so wrong about this!

Anybody that knows anything about football would know that the original post is accurate. Especially if they've seen Trinity play...

You are so wrong about this!

Please explain.
