Trinity plays an exciting brand of football and are coached to execute this exciting brand to a "T".

 

It is enjoyable to watch them execute and also, it is important to understand the discipline and hard work that goes into this program. Their great coaching is a pleasure to watch.

 

My hats off to what they do at Trinity!

Where is Trinity ranked in the nation in all-time wins and winning percentages among high school football programs?

CR's comments have more validity if applied to the "November-December" Trinity rather than the "August-October" version. Every year Trinity is a work in progress which seems to peak at just the right time. I credit the coaches with this.

Percentage....I am sure that we are up there....wins, not even close...haven't been around nearly long enough.

I had the opportunity to watch all 6 State Finals this weekend. Of course, these are thought to be the 2 best teams from each class, with some exceptions. This was the first time in years that I was able to evaluate the level and quality of play at all 6 classes.

 

Often we become disgruntled if the offense doesn't score every possession or the defense gives up too many yards or the kickoff isn't a touchback. Additionally, we only see 6A teams, an occasional 5A team and state powers from Ohio and Tennessee during the season. Accordingly, we become myopic on our team's perfromance as it relates to our competitors.

 

After watching the best 2 teams from the other 5 classes play, we should never complain about the level of play at Trinity. Some teams couldn't even kick it to the 35 yard line. The long snaps looked like knuckleballs. The offenses were simplistic and the tackling was abhorrent. Penalty flags littered the field. Some schools couldn't throw the ball at all, let alone a 20 yard out. There were sloppy play and turnovers the whole weekend. Trinity is leaps and bounds above all of the teams I witnessed this weekend.

 

I think that, just as in life, you often have to step away from your environment to appreciate how good you really have it. I encourage you all to watch a lower class game on replay (ICN 2) or next year during the bye week just to appreciate Trinity's effectiveness. A belated thanks goes out to all at Trinity who have gotten this program to a place were few in the Nation have ever been. :thumb:

To compare Trinity to other teams and schools of like size, I can somehwat agree with this statement.

 

To compare Trinity to Hazard or Fort Campbell is completely ridiculous. I don't think I'd call a halfback option to the quarterback in the waning seconds of a title game "simplistic." I'm sure the good folks at Belfry, who have won a couple of titles recently, don't mind their "simplistic" offense and the rewards it reaped.

 

Given the geographical and sociological advantages that Trinity has over schools of a smaller class, they should dominate. Trinity has more kids in their senior class than Hazard likely has in their entire high school.

 

They can privately fund state of the art practice facilities, equipment, and other amenities that smaller schools can't. To say this doesn't give them an advantage is wrong.

 

Trinity was the best team I watched of the 12 in Louisville. It wasn't close. I'm sure it's the product of hard work, dedication, coaching, and the right system. But you take those factors and couple them with the other advantages they have, it's no wonder they have the status they do. I'm not saying those advantages are illegal. They are just advantages that other schools won't come close to having.

 

I think Trinity was the class of the state again this year. It was obvious. But to compare them to the lower classes is wrong. Five other schools got the same trophy as Trinity this weekend and theirs no more or no less important or significant than Trinity's.

 

One other point about the original post.

 

I don't think Trinity fans would have to come to the state finals to realize how good they have it.

 

They should stay at Fort Campbell for a month where many of the fathers don't get to see their kids practice or play games in a season. Where the players in many cases are the men of the house and have to make decisions that not only impact them, but their families.

 

Equipment for their practice facility stadium was purchased through fundraisers the players and coaches worked all summer to raise money for. There was no retired four star general who whipped out a checkbook and made a monetary donation. There is no wealthy supporter who can gather other dads together and raise private funds. Most of the dads aren't here.

 

While there is a strong tradition at Fort Campbell, it's not the same as Trinity, where there are generations of stability. Many, if not all, of the players moved to Fort Campbell as youngsters or in Darrien Crank's case, midseason. Their dads did not play under legendary coach Marshall Patterson. The uncles and grandfathers didn't play there.

 

I see where CR is coming with his initial post. Trinity football stands head and shoulders above everyone else. It should. But when you compare them to the other lower classes, it's like saying Florida has it good because you watched the OVC and OVC football just isn't as good.

 

But given what you have to work with, Trinity should be that way every year.

Trinity is a machine. Hats off to them for building such a program. I know this thread was for Trinity fans. Well I am a fan of high school football and I am a fan of all high school teams here in Kentucky. That includes Trinity. I enjoy watching this team. The coaching staff does an outstanding job with the hand the have been dealt.

 

With that being said, I truly enjoy watching the smaller schools compete. I would doubt that Coaches at Trinity could duplicate their success at a Class A, AA, or AAA a school. There are so many other issues that these schools have to deal with that the coaches at T or X dont have too.

 

Could these coaches have success with only 20 kids at practice? Plus needing to make sure 5 of these kids get a meal for the evening? Or better yet provide Thanksgiving meals to a couple of kids families so they can have the same experience as others?

 

Coaching is more than X's and O's. Because not all Jim's and Joe's have a roof over their heads.

 

Now this isn't a statement against T or X. This is a statement for those coaches across the state that deal with reality on a day to day basis and still manage to be successful. Thank you for being involved with young people.

I'm glad that we have Trinity to represent the state of Kentucky! IMO, they do a better job then anybody! :dancingpa

Plain and simple, Trinity is a machine, a true treat to watch, a complete nightmare to match up against. I watched my team play four #1 seeds, and you could make an all star team with all of those players and still come up a few Tds short of Trinity.
