I'm kind of shocked that Michael Campbell from Corbin did not get any mention. He may have been the player of the year in 2A in my opinion for all that he did for the Hounds this year. I would think that he was the top tackler on a very good defensive unit, a very good blocking fullback who was second on the team in rushing, averaged around 40 yards a punt, missed one FG attempt and sent most kickoffs into the endzone. He was one of the main reasons the Hounds were undefeated until the state semifinals.:confused:

Wow! Who votes on these things. To miss one of the best player in the state , unacceptable. He would stack him up against anyone in the state. Michael if your out there, you know in your heart where you stand. The ones you played against gave you your respect. Keep your head up kid!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there are, but Campbell being left off sticks out like a sore thumb. No one in 2A was more valuable to their team than him, then when you consider that his team was the best 2A team in the WYMT viewing area, it really looks like someone did not do their homework.

He is certainly an excellent player. But with only 81 carries for the year it hard to but him in front of all the others. 62 solo and 24 assists on D. His 40EP's and 4 FG kicking are really good but happened to be in a year where there are some outstanding kickers. I.m sure he was very valuable for the Hounds. But their team was so balanced it could actually hurt them in getting INDIVIDUAL awards. I'm sure he is very happy with being on the Border Bowl team and looks forward to showing how well he can play.

One major player missing to me, is Junior DE from Bell County, Keith Lowe. I dont understand how he wasn't even an honorable mention. Lowe was huge for the bobcats the entire year, and one of the most consistent players on the Bobcat defense besides John Dudley, can't see why he wasnt even honorable mention as well.

After seeing this selection along with the Border Bowl picks, I would have to cast my vote for Knox Central's Wayne Mills for Coach of the Century. He made it all the way to the regional championship game (losing by only 5 points to the eventual state champion), with hardly any players worthy of mention.

 

Yep, I am being sarcastic.

- Campbell was the best pure power back I saw this year.

 

- Mills did more with less, by far, than any other coach in 4A. If there was an award for "best no-name team" it would go to Knox Central.

 

- Nice to see Austin McKinney get kudos. Incredible numbers for an under-sized junior LB.

wow! thought i was dreaming last night. Congrats to all the deserving young men though. Campbell not being acknowledge is terrible. That Fullback averaged 9.8 yards per carries on 3rd and 4th and short 80% of the time. Think about that a minute. There was no better FB in the state this year, let alone the mountains, and we won't even talk about Defense. Congats to 2A coach of the year, don't know how you did it.:confused:

Harbin and Hilton from Bell should be on the list for sure, if anyone deserves to be on it they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was a little strange Corbin only had 1 player on the team but again I attribute thatto how balanced they were.
