String Music Showcase AAU
chardice replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I don't think he would be forced to play early or hurt but I don't want to see it happen either. It just sounded like some excitement to get him on the floor for the state AAU in 2 weeks and that just seems early for a player with 2 years of HS ball ahead of him. He played for DS on their 16U team but with the Ice 15U that won state and faired well at Nationals too. The Ice lost a great player and person in Purvis. -

He does need to be playing with someone, true. He played with DSAS 16U last year but with the Ice 15U and won a state AAU title with them and played at AAU Nationals with them. It's not a major thing but the Ice lost a great person and player in Purvis. -

Really? I heard that the team that won the 15U state last year only practiced 4 times before the state tournament and then 3-4 more before Nationals. Those must be some good ball players... -
I'd take Fucci before any of these other guys. He makes his teammates better, he can score from anywhere, defend very well, sees the floor better than just about anyone and he competes as hard as anyone.
-
Just for future and for the home town boys, his name is Purvis. Hopefully, college coaches will know it well soon.

Be honest with yourselves and realize Central has to win two games. The top bracket of the Sweet 16 was as putrid as it has ever been and every team in it would have had a legit shot to come out of it. Also, I love how the Trinity fans show up to support the 6th region once the 7th has been eliminated. Per usual for BGP.

Is the finals of the 5th region tonight (Saturday) or tomorrow. On scholastic ball report they said it had been moved to tomorrow afternoon. Is this true, if so what time?

Rowan County was obviously exposed as a fraud. They will probably win their weak region, but could not compete in Louisville or Lexington. If LCA keeps playing this way, they will be tough to beat in March. -

Refs way too involved in this game. Had Barnette not been in foul trouble, it never would have been this close. -
This all goes back to the case brought up against LCA a months ago. The KHSAA told the players that received the money from River Fund that they could continue at LCA but would have to pay back all money awarded to them through the Fund. If they chose to return to their district school, their eligibility would remain in tact. This is a completely different situation that Shotwell from Scott Co.

Barber will not see the floor with the varsity team this year and maybe not next. -

They also have some super Sophmores in Martin and Schuette. There are also a few bigs that should round things out for them. -
This is official even though Sayre and Ted Hall aren't getting much respect from the Herald Leader. He will do a great job with the Spartans. Kirk will be missed but he has also been grooming hall well.
-
Very true about Coach Hall. He has definitely earned this and he is originally from the Ashland area.
-
Unless I have missed something on the boards, this hasn't been mentioned. Gene Kirk has decided to retire as the head basketball coach at Sayre School. Ted Hall, the current assistant coach, will be his replacement (and a darn good one, too). I realize this is a Sayre team that is down in talent but they still have some strong players and Coach Hall will get the best out of them. Congrats, Coach Hall.

There were 2 student athlete brothers that transferred from Bryan Station to LexCath for the upcoming year. The 9th grader will be eligible but the 10th grader will sit out this season. -

There were several conversations with Lexington schools but the whole private debacle that happened with LCA this year scared them away. -

He is not working at Toyota in Georgetown. He works in Lexington. -
Lexington Ice Playing in 15u AAU Nationals
chardice replied to red22's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Nice point, Smoothron. This quote doesn't seem to hold a lot of water. Fucci is a very good basketball player and his bball IQ is higher than any Sophomore in KY. However, the ICE are a team and Fucci is part of that team and played almost as well as any team in Cincy this week. They represented KY very well as did the A1 Allstars that finished 4th in the Classic Bracket. -
Lexington Ice Playing in 15u AAU Nationals

The Ice actually only averaged about 2 or 3 threes a game this week. Here is a recap. The Lexington ICE were very impressive at the 15U AAU Nationals this week. They won their pool and finished in the top 20. Their 2 losses were to: Conn. Bball Club (finished 3rd) by 7 and were down by 1 with 2 minutes; and to Upstate Elite (NY) by 3 points. Upstate beat the National Champion Memphis Stallions in pool play. All that was with 6 players for 5 of the 6 games. They had one injury in game one (Barnette) and had 2 starters in FL with Henry Clay (Kiesling and Wilder). Deluca decided not to play b/c of a golf tourney. Shotwell, Purvis, Helton, Fucci, Haggin and Martin were flat out fun to watch. Watch out for them next season as they will be travelling quite a bit more and will surely add more talent. -

Favorites for upcoming AAU State Tournament at KBA
chardice replied to The Fossil's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
These are all Varsity and JV high school teams and their respective coaches will be on the sidelines. Not every team in the state is represented because many teams have become frustrated with the management and refing at the KBA/AAU and have started a separate tournament in Frankfort, which will be a strong one as well.
