  1. He got into some trouble towards the end of the school year. It is yet to be determined whether or not he will be allowed to play at TC - based on discipline, not transfer rule.
  2. The Ice lost out in the sweet 16 of the classic bracket after 2 players had to head back to KY. The 2 other teams in the their pool - NC Athletics (lost by 1) finished 9th overall and Showtime Ballers (up by 6 in 4th and lost by 6) finished 7th overall. A couple balls bounce a different way and the Ice could have been contending. Also, when you are without one of your stronger players, Ryan Fucci, it makes a big difference. This team is solid and will be back even stronger next AAU season. By the way, here's a vote for shortening the AAU season. I'm with Coach Cal - it's way too long!
  3. Evans will play D1 somewhere decent. He already has a lot of interest from Air Force, Eastern and a couple others. After his play this summer, I'd say there will be more. As for Morton, we'll see where he is when school starts. He won't be at Dunbar more than likely but the word is he might be seen at LexCath or LCA.
  4. They made it to the finals and then had to leave due to flights and a game time change. So, they got 2nd.
  5. Don't think he was officially released by his doc but trainer, PT, Humphrey, and parents were all in on this. He has played limited minutes and looks fine.
  6. Ice won first round of the Classic in 16U. They play at 5pm today. Great offensive performances today by Martin, Dunagan, Barnette and Carpenter & rest of the team on the defensive end. They held the opponent to 26 points in final 3 qtrs for the win.
  7. Ice have Martin, Barnette, Kiesling, Purvis, Dunagan (Wayne Co), Shearer (Wayne Co), Kellen Smith (Scott) and George Carpenter (Winchester Christian). Talk about a different team than state! They have 3 of the same guys. Lots of conflicts and lack of desire. Fucci had a great opportunity but has lots of disappointed coaches in Orlando. He was feeling sick after Vegas so he didn't make the trip to Orl. He played about 14 minutes a game with Zeller, Plumlee and others. They lost in sweet 16 I believe.
  8. They need depth inside. They have Evans and Gullett and then there is nothing with size. Their guard play is unbelievable - Barnette, Helton, Burdette, Kindred, and Stephens. They will stir things up but their bigs must stay foul free and that will be tough for Gullett.
  9. The older Beckham is good but not nearly as good as Jaylen. Add in Schuette and Martin along with several role players and big guys and this team will once again make some noise in the 11th.
  10. The Ice lost 2 heartbreakers in pool play. Had sizable leads in both games but couldn't hang on. Lost by 1 to NC Athletics and lost by 6 to Florida Showstoppers (Assault). Purvis had 4 threes in the first quarter, Dunagan playing really well, Martin leading the team and Barnette filling it up from outside. Ice also have Smith (Scott), Shearer (Wayne Co), Kielsling (HC) and Carpenter (Winchester Christian). Fucci went to Vegas with Indiana Elite One - played some but not tons. Didn't feel well at end of trip and headed back to Lex. Ice play tomorrow in Classic bracket at 9:55am. They are hoping to make a run to the Championship of that bracket. Memphis Stallions (#1 overall in 08) also in Classic. Lots of coaches and lots of talent. Ice game had 30 coaches from all over the place - watching Purvis, Barnette, Martin and wanted to see Fucci. Fucci has serious interest from Witchita St, Missouri St, Northwestern and Tenn Tech. Other guys have D-1 schools that are chasing them as well.
  11. Wow, what a debate. One note, Fucci is playing with Indiana Elite One in Vegas this week and will probably turn a few heads. He is playing with Zeller, Plumlee and the likes. The KY Ice head to AAU Nationals this weekend and look to have a good showing. Not sure who the WKY Elite will have as of their 8 players at state, 3 were seniors-to-be and dropped out of the state tournament.
  12. Yes, Kellen and Travis are going to Orlando with the Ice. They are taking a very strong team to Nationals and hope to do well.
  13. I agree but I think they have talked extensively with the Purvis'. The Ice coaches want what is best for Travis now and in the future.
  14. The way I understand it is that the doctor didn't even examine him last time. He PT doc released him and said he's nearly 100%. Sounds like they need a new doctor. He's playing with a brace but gettin' after it. I think he's headed to Orlando...
  15. Demling reported Ferguson's move this afternoon.
  16. Friends for Life, assuming that is the team that beat them, is pretty solid. They played well in Cincy. Golden - saw Purvis play the other day and he looked strong! His shot from outside is solid and his post play was great. His endurance is the only thing that he needs to improve. He dunked multiple times and got off his feet pretty well. Good news for him and GRC.
  17. Partially but I think they will continue to expand and get even bigger.
  18. How big is he? Are they going anywhere else this summer? I didn't get a chance to see him play this weekend?
  19. Team Takeover Canada won the 14s, 16s and 17s of the Gold Bracket. I am pretty sure they beat Ind Elite in the finals of the 16s. They beat The Ville in 14s.
  20. What a start to the evaluation period! If you didn't get to see any AAU action in Cincy or Lou or IN, you missed out. This week is Jam Fest in WV, Peach Jam in SC and Battle at the Bluff in Memphis. The following week is AAU Showcase in Orlando followed by AAU Nationals as well as Adidas Showcase in Vegas and LA. The Ice have added a G and a C for this stretch and should be ready for AAU Nationals. Good luck to all. There is also some talk that KY might be poised to create some AAU powerhouses like Indy Elite offers. It will be interesting to see what develops between now and next summer in the KY AAU world.
  21. Wilder is not playing this July. He needed a break from hoops.
  22. Ice won convincingly...finally. Since they blew their game last night and Evansville upset Carolina Drive in OT, the Ice play in the Silver bracket vs BA Hoyas at 1pm tomorrow at Hoops. Fucci, Barnette and Martin had standout performances but Shotwell, Dunagan, Haggin, Napier and Helton played a great game. Fant and Shanklin showed up for the DSAS 8pm game tonight. No word on results but lots of coaches were there to watch.
  23. Seems like players get a lot of hype for performances at Blue Chip Camp. Maybe too much hype. The list of players in attendance was not star-studded, even of KY guys. There were some really good players. Who knows, maybe O'Neill found a gem. I hope Washington does well at USC and represents the Commonwealth well.
  24. We all play without big players at one point. It obviously makes a difference to the chemistry and talent of your team. However, if you enter a tournament with a certain set of players, then that is your team. The Ice could have used their 2 starting big men but that wasn't the team they had. They lost because they had fewer points and couldn't execute down the stretch, not because they were without Kiesling and Dunagan. I don't think Golden was making an excuse for the loss but just stating that DSAS would be different without those 3 guys. Ice in a must win at 6pm at Hoops tonight.
