  1. He had no offers before USC swept in and offered this week. Seems quick, not to slight the player. However, we are talking about Kevin O'Neil!
  2. Ice won this morning against Carolina Drive. They lost a close one against Evansville Bball Club. They were up 15 and ran out of gas and lost in the last 4 secs. They were without their 2 starting big men - Kiesling (family reunion) and Dunagan (will play Fri-Sun). They can still win the pool but will need help. Last pool game is at 6pm Friday at Hoops. With good reason, multiple coaches have been talking about several players on the Ice but focus seems to be on Fucci.
  3. At Scott Co, yes. I think he will be fine. If nothing else, he has a great AAU team and 2 great coaches!
  4. 43 Hoops beat Indy Elite in 16U Platinum Championship. Haven't heard results of Gold Bracket. Ice play at 8am in Lou tomorrow.
  5. Tanner is a top notch kid, great attitude and work ethic. He is also a very good basketball player. According to the family, they are more concerned with him as a person and student. If he plays sports, they also want a coach that feels the same way. Do not misconstrue any of this. There is a chance he doesn't play basketball again. As long as he is enjoying life, maturing and becoming a man, I think mom and dad will be more than proud. Hoops are definitely secondary to these other things - as it should be for everyone. When the Shotwells make a decision on next school year, it will be with Tanner's best personal interests in mind. They will be sure that he has adults that are concerned for him and encouraging his growth and development in every area of life.
  6. Taylor Barnette (2012 LCA) was 32 and he can light it up with a quick release. Martin was the no jersey player. Yes, Fucci had a great tournament overall. The tournament was pretty good overall (talent was great). The refs were quite a disappointment. They were being evaluated most games and didn't seem to impose much authority or show much consistency. You just gotta play well and not give them the chance to dictate the game.
  7. DS lost in the Final 4 of the 16U Platinum Bracket - close game though. Ice lost by 3 to Garner Rd in the Final 4 of 16U Gold - lead until 5 minutes to go and had a shot to tie with 10 seconds. SS v Char Court was championship of Silver but didn't stick around. Ice, DS, SS, Char Court start right back up tomorrow at HoopFest in Lou.
  8. 16U Update: Platinum - not sure as site isn't updated Gold Bracket - the KY ICE play in the Final 4 against Garner Rd at 1pm in the 5th 3rd Arena. The Ice are beginning to look like the team they should be. As for the NKY Bulldogs comments about refs, the ICE experienced same thing but pulled out a victory. Ice were up 15 with 5 min to play and the whistles went silent. Oh well, that's a variable you can't control but isn't fun to deal with. Silver Bracket - the SS-Pittman play Char Court at 1pm for the championship.
  9. Actually, he can't tell you want he is going to do. He has 3-4 options and they haven't decided yet. This at least from dad and son.
  10. Kentucky Ice lost to Atlanta Celtics by 7 and then lost to KC Pump N Run by 9. In the Atl game, they missed several easy layups and made some foolish turnovers. It was a game the whole way and ATL is talented. In the KC game, the Ice were up for a lot of the first half, then got down and were up at half. The 2nd half they came out flat and and ended up losing by 9. Both of their opponents are in the platinum bracket now and are strong national teams. they will do well today. The Ice play the QC Prophets at 10:40 at NKU in the Gold Bracket. Hopefully they get it together and make some noise today.
  11. That's good to hear for him. Glad he got better or was misdiagnosed.
  12. Very true - I didn't say they were the only players. Nichols is a great athlete. Stewart is very raw and not his brother but will still contribute. Their PG will help them quite a bit. It will take them playing as a team and FOR Brown to succeed.
  13. Shotwell played with Scott Co throughout June under Hicks. There is talk of him heading somewhere else but, for now, that is just talk.
  14. If Brown can get the team to play together, they will be a decent force in the 11th. Kiesling and Wilder will spearhead that team and they might surprise a few teams. However, they all will have to play together and for Coach Brown.
  15. He is with the SS but they are not playing after the Eddie Ford Hoopfest.
  16. Also, to keep the N KY fans happy, the KY Ice have added Kellen Smith for the Jam Fest in WV and AAU Nationals in Orlando. Actually, they just wanted another guard for the tournaments and he was available. Gilbert could only commit to a couple of days for each tournament.
  17. According to a few coaches, Shanklin is out for the summer with stress fractures in his shins.
  18. As for Barber, he is a Junior this coming year. He has not been in the varsity rotation and it will take a lot to get him into it. Shotwell couldn't even get 5 minutes a game with Hicks. They have a very deep team and multiple guys that would've had similar or better stats up there. Watch Barber, Samsel and other guys on the AAU circuit starting this week and then pass judgment. They may do just as well but it will say a lot more if they do.
  19. This is no slight on Samsel but Mid-Continent is recruiting EVERYONE right now. Ok, not everyone but any decent player in KY and around is being pursued at some level by them. I guess that's the way to get your name out there and pull in a few surprise players.
  20. KY Ice = Fucci, Dunagan, Martin The Ice play Atlanta Celtics at 10:40 on Monday and KC Pump n Run at 8pm. Also, the KY Hoopfest starts on Thursday in Louisville and it is also loaded with some big teams.
  21. The Euton's house is up for sale - does this mean anything besides they are looking for a new place in Georgetown?
  22. Fairfield University is the first to actually offer. There are plenty of others that have shown interest.
  23. Hopefully you all saw the AAU tournament this weekend because Ryan Fucci carried the Tates Creek team to the championship. Barksdale was hurt. He is very good but he doesn't make that team what it is.
  24. Gilbert is playing with the Ice for the Jam Fest in WV and for AAU Nationals. He will be a great addition for that squad.
