All right folks, we have talked about the PG's and some of the other great players in KY. It's time to get a discussion going about some of the best big guys in the state. For the state I like Elijah Pittman coming back for Holmes Highschool. The kid can just play ball. For NKY I think Bobby Stauffer of Ryle will be right up there with the best, if not the best. I also look for Andy Earls and to have a big year for Boone County. With McFarland out of that lineup and Earls and Gabbard taking over, I look for Earls to be a big contributor. Jake Giesler for Newport Catholic should also have a good year. Next up, and this is my early prediction, but Connor High School has two big guys, Clay Robinson who is right around 6'6" that played well against some good teams last year. Big strong kid that plays with a lot of heart. Also, my surprise big man player is a kid named Tyler Hodges who is 6'7" with a very long wing spand. He doesnt necessarily play the big man role in the paint.He may be more of a wing player, but he can stroke it. He may need to get a little more aggressive in going to the rim, but I think he can get that done.

The big kid from Elliot Co. was the best big man in the Sweet 16 other than Pittman. I think he was only a Soph. (6'7 and could score inside and out). Shelby Valley and Eastern also had a player or two with size that could play.

George Fant and Timmy Knipp. Both are good big man prospects.

Where will T. Knipp end up next year?

While often criticized, you gotta include Euton and Zollo. Both are good high school big men. Matt St. John is very good, as is Donovan Gibbs.

I agree. I also want to add, remember the name Travis Pervis. He is the kid that had to sit out all last season for GRC with a torn ACL. Cory Rogers, big body and is a beast down low.

From Northern Ky you would have to add Jacob Reiger from Brossart, Daniel O'Conner from Scott and Jake Thelen from CovCath.

 

Thelen is as good or better than any current soph big man in N Ky. Rieger is extremely underrated in N Ky. He is one of the top players in N Ky. O'Conner is going to be a 3 year starter at Scott and other than Pittman has put up stats similar or better than any big on the list frm N Ky.

Add the Ison kid from Elliott County also to the list, if he can improve on certain things with his size and strength I think he could turn into a real nice "high school" big man.

Geisler was more productive than any of those other players you have ahead of him, averaging close to a double-double (11 ppg, 8 rpg). No way Robinson is the third best big man in NKY:

 

Pittman- 14 ppg, 7 rpg

Geisler- 11 ppg, 8 rpg

Earls- 10 ppg, 4 rpg

Stauffer- 9 ppg, 5 rpg

Robinson- 7 ppg, 4 rpg

Hate to :deadhorse: but there are a few big men who had better seasons than Stauffer, Robinson and need to be ranked ahead of them. As I mentioned in an earlier post Daniel O'Conner of Scott and Jacob Reiger from Brossart had better statistical seasons. We haven't even mentioned Trevor Wellbrock from CovCath who ranked in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rebounds last season.
