Up and Coming Big Men in KY

I think we will see big things from Stauffer.

I agree with you. IMO his fire for the game seems to put him above the other big men in his grade in NKY.

I had an opportunity to watch Bobby Stauffer and Jake Thelen play at the Hoopfest. Bobby dominated the matchup. Jake really struggled with Bobby on both ends of the floor.

I would consider Jake the better offensive player overall but Bobby is a much better defender and rebounds that ball as well as anyone.

I was very impressed with Bobby and the energy that he plays with.

I am sure this will not be the last matchup for these two yound men.

Until Hoopfest I may have agreed with you about Thelan's offensive ability compared to Stauffer, but after this weekend I would have to disagree. Indeed, Thelan faced some very large and aggressive defenders with the Bulldogs, but he still only managed three points. Stauffer averaged close to 14for the tournament and even had a 21 point outing against DSAS. I think this says a tremendous amount for the offense power of Stauffer.

I have not seen Thelen play at all this summer. I know he is playing with an Ohio based AAU team and I did not see CovCath at all this summer. Look for Thelen to have a very good season for CovCath this year. He was really coming on last year prior to the injury.

I hope he does. I wish him the best. No disrespect intended.

I saw that game as well. I have also seen Stauffer and Thelen a few other times this summer.

Jake Thelen may have a better jumpshot than Bobby Stauffer, but I cant say that he is better than him on the offensive end. Stauffer finishes around the rim very well and has the ability to physically dominate his opponent and he did just that against Thelen. Stauffer is also getting very good at putting the ball on the floor from out around the elbow.

I also agree with previous statements about Stauffers ability to rebound the basketball. He does that quite well.

As far as Thelen, he is a really nice ball player and I am sure he will do very well for CovCath this season. I hope he does and he is a really good kid from what I understand. But for now, I think Thelen and Stauffer are in different leagues.

Thelen just needs to get tougher down there. He can do it.
