With Coach Holland's departure to Oldham County, who would take over the Henry County head coaching job?? Many folks on his staff were "Henry County" folks. Would one of his assistants get the job, or do they go outside.

 

Henry County is out of the All "A" again this year. Would that be a decision maker for anybody??

The JV coach from last year is not there anymore and the older assistants would probably not want the head position. Holland has turned Henry into a solid program in the 8th and with the new additions to the school this could be a very appealing job for a young coach. I think Henry being out of the All "A" is a good thing for Henry. They could get into another Christmas tournamnet or one in Jan.

The first name that comes to mind is Nethery. Will he leave Eminence to coach there if it is offered?

Do you think that Henry would be better off to go outside the Region to pick up a new head coach?? I've heard Nethery now a couple of times, but can't help to think that maybe Henry should open it up and see who might be available and intersted in the job before they go within the region to find their next coach

They went outside the region to get Holland, I heard Nethery for a couple of jobs as well. I am not really sure why people think of him for this job. No offense, but he was only 2-22 ( give or take a lose) last year.

There was not any varsity level talent at Eminence last year. The question in evaluating a coach is whether the talent you inherited improved throughout the year. Eminence improved each game. Nethery did a nice job. I have heard the Gallatin staff state that Nethery is very gifted in the x and o part of the game. He and his wife are Henry County natives, so I would think they would have an interest in the job. Hiring coaches during a time when most schools are reducing their staff may come down to who they have a fit for in the classroom, not the most experienced coach. The rumor was Oldham had very few applicants that they could fit into their position. I would not be surprised if that affects Henry as well.

I think your right about the teacher positions that will be open, it will be hard for Henry. Is Nethery from Emience? I know that is still Henry County, but that is kinda like Jones leaving Gallatin for Carroll (Big rivals). I heard similar stuff about Nethery being very wise in the areas of X and O, but isn't more than basketball than just developing an offense? It will be interesting to see the names thrown around for this job here within the next couple of weeks.

Henry Co. needs an outsider to come in. Someone who can bring life back to basketball. I know a great coach but he's an outsider. good luck Ccoach Phillips.

Coach Nethery would do an outstanding job. He knows a lot about the game and the kids really like him. Ask any players from Gallatin and now Eminence and I guarantee they will say he is a great coach.

I would not consider Henry and Eminence a rivalry. Do you really think that Henry gets psyched to play Eminence and mark the date on the calendar.

Rule 13

I would not consider it as strong as others in the area, but they still play twice a year and it is the "city school" vs. the "county school." Lately the games have not been that good because Henry has usually had the much stronger teams.

I heard one of the Carroll County assistant coaches is applying for the job. This is just second hand information so don't quote me on that!!

I hope that the Henry County officals do a back ground check this time.

What's that supposed to mean? Holland was a great hire for them.
