Looking at the past schedules, I hope they play up a little bit (no offense, but teams like Corner Stone probably shouldn't be on the schedule with a school that has over 600 kids-according to KHSAA). I think that would really improve the quality of basketball in HC. Could be a good program for the right guy...they need someone who won't use the job as a stipping stone to something "better". Good luck in finding your new guy.

I heard one of the Carroll County assistant coaches is applying for the job. This is just second hand information so don't quote me on that!!

 

Which one would that be? Jones is the head baseball coach, and if its the Freshman coach I don't think they would consider him.

What everyone needs to realize is that every coach in the state is always looking for the "better" job. Some coaches just don't find a better job. Holland did a great job with the kids at Henry. Holland took them to the region twice while he was there and won the first regional game in a long time for them. When was the last time they won 20 games before he was there? Any coach that steps in this position will have a good pool of talent and kids that play well together.

Considering the region, Henry is the largest school in the district and should make it to the region consistantly. Not a knock, 20 games is tough, but the schedule certainly helped them get there. You're wrong, not everyone is looking for the "better job" in coaching. I do agree, Holland did a good job.

I agree Henry should be in the hunt to win the district every year. It should be RARE that they don't make it to the region. I see why Holland would leave, no real opportunity to win the region at Henry, even in a region that is not tough by comparison to other regions. I do wish Henry luck in finding the right person who will bring stability for years to come.

I understand why he left, I am just saying that not "every" coach is looking for something "better". Some coaches are content to develop what they have and take pride in seeing their kids surpass their atletic potential. Not that Holland wasn't, I just want to see HC get someone who is in for the long haul, in the long run that is when programs make the jump. Just my opinion.

To win the 8th you will have to beat 3 teams that are over a 1000 kids in there school. When was the last time a small school won the 8th? Gallatin was close 2 years ago, but other than that when was the other time. Oldham County in the long haul is a better program and has the potential to compete for the 8th regional title every year. In the smaller school systems in comes in cycles way to often. Coaches do not forget how to coach in those years, the players are just not there to choose from. Good step for Holland to take, no offense to Henry. Smaller schools can be spring boards for coaches and there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion. I don't disagree, my only point is that not EVERY coach uses a small school as a spring board or is looking for the next best thing. Oldham is not immune to the dry spells that small schools suffer through. With 3 schools in that county they too are feeling the dry spell. I do agree that on the outside Oldham appears to be a much better gig, but I am not on the inside to make any real comments on OC. I wish Holland luck, HC will do just fine :thumb:

Does anyone have any new info.? I would imagine that they want to get this done quickly with summer ball getting ready to start.

I have heard two current assistants at other schools might be the leading candidates for this position!

Do these assistants have names? Or how about their schools, do the schools have names? What is the point of posting if you are not going to give out some information?

Is it true that Carlton from Gallatin applied?

I actually gave out pertinent information, more than what was posted before, plus I gave out the info I was given. I was told as of now these two guys were the leading guys and this was from someone at the school. The process is still early, but they want to get it done very soon.

 

Also was told the Henry Co. girls assistant could be putting in for it, Bruce Blanton! That was the only actual name I have heard and that was pure speculation!

 

Of the two assistants one is an assistant from a school in Louisville and the other is from a school in Western KY!
