Mason is a great kid. Midway is getting a nice player, congratulations on playing at the next level. -

I agree with El Corazon Williams is the real deal, but the refs get caught up to thinking he never walks or commits a foul. -
Owen County 55 Gallatin County 51

I thought that the calls were definitely in Owen County's favor. Carson Williams is the most protected player in the region, he should have received a tech for grabbing the big kid's foot from Gallatin. Two very questionable calls on made 3's were a huge difference in the game because Owen scored and got the ball back. With 24 seconds to go, Owen was up 2. The Beckham kid ball fakes, the Owen defender clearly fouled Beckham while he was going up for 3 but the refs let it go. -

Is Grant Co. Now An 'A' School?
Lakers22 replied to marvel's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I didn't know that Grant's guards were so unstoppable? I don't recall any studs returning to their roster this year. Hunt is a nice player, but didn't Grant lose alot of their scoring with the absence of Hunt and Kinmon? -
Cats'Pause 8th Region Preview
Lakers22 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hargett and McNeil from WV are both top 10 players. Smith from Oldham is most dominant player in the region. Sampson from SK is a quality player as well. I have heard the lightning quick guard from Henry has gone back to his previous school, so Henry may be over rated although they have very good young talent. -
Gallatin County/Walton Verona Predictions
Lakers22 replied to The sarge's topic in KY Football (High School)
WV handily. WV has too much size on the line. GC is still very young, probably a year away from being a district contender. -
Cats'Pause 8th Region Preview
Lakers22 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually, 10 pretty good teams. I think South is a little under-apreciated at number 9. I could see a lot of movement in this list, but these 10 plus Grant are probably the players for region 8. -
I think Owen will benefit from their new district. In my opinion, they are the 1 seed for their district with their stiffest competition coming from Walton Verona. If they are the 1 or 2 seed, they have a shot to win a district game before bowing out.

Louisville is the magnet area of the greater Louisville metropolitan area. I sense most families that make school choices on the basis of education, athletics, school values, etc would be drawn to T or X in the Louisville area. The stiffest competition would be from Male, Manual and possibly Central. NKY is not the magnet of the greater Cincinnati metroplitan area. Cincinnati draws many of the families making these educational decisions. Moeller, Elder, St. X, Colerain and some others are all schools that can compete and arguably beat the big 2 out of Louisville on a yearly basis. When Boone County and Conner were the only Boone County schools, Boone competed with T and X. Now they are divided into a minimum of 4 public school choices and several private school choices. The same can be said for Kenton County. If Kenton County was able to draw the inner city athletes from Holmes and have the numbers of players from Scott, Simon, and Dixie they would match T and X in depth, skill, athleticism and coaching, so I think you would have a very competitive situation with NKY and T and X. It is my belief that Trinity and X have the most advantageous situation to draw talent in Ky. If NKY drew all of the top talent of the Cincy area, the title of this post would be why can't T and X compete with NKY. Just my opinion.

This team is loaded. Williams is 6'7 stud in the middle. Osborne 6'4 2 guard who can fill it up. Ripey is a solid point guard. Ball is a good shooter. Younger Williams and Shelton provide additional height and scoring. Solid team and a good coach in Duval. This team may have the most talent in the 8th region. They should win All A region and district and be a major contender for the big region.

Meade County 2011/2012
Lakers22 replied to threetimelover's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
I think this squad is still a year away from contending for the region, but I believe Josh Hurt is one of the better coaches in the region, and he will have another good year for the green wave. -
Joe Deters resigned at Gallatin County.

Per KHSAA, Hickman Co. and Southwestern have opened up. Any word on whether coach Schulz was forced to resign or left on his own, just curious?

Trimble County is open.
