  1. Not sure what that meant but no. The insider is closer than anyone posting on this board will ever be.
  2. First off, Jackson moved to Ashland to live with the Eutons for the first year or two. Then, mom moved out there. Clay Euton has talked about moving his family to the Lexington area since Dakotah was in 5th grade. He works in Lexington now - it's not like Georgetown housing was cheaper so they bought a house there. As an insider told me, both will be ruled ineligible, both will appeal and both will win the appeal. Just give it time.
  3. From a person close to the case, they fully expect an appeal from the Eutons and they expect the ruling to be overturned based on a lack sufficient evidence against Dakotah. He will be in a SC uniform for the first day of practice this fall. As will Jackson. Shotwell, the sophomore from LCA, has had his appeal denied and will be ineligible.
  4. It was based on Mr. Euton's comments in the paper about taking a tour of the facility and all that junk. They will appeal and win the appeal based a lack of real substance. Jackson's mom lived in Ashland with him but her husband lived in Lex and they were married. Since BOTH parents didn't change residence, that was the issue in question. Shotwell's appeal was denied and was also ruled ineligible. Again, this had nothing to do with athletics but the family hadn't moved (couldnt sell their home) and couldn't afford the commute along with some academic problems.
  5. 3 of the Scott Co. eligibility cases went before the KHSAA today - Euton, Shotwell and Jackson. Wonder if any decisions will be made today?
  6. Boling told several people that he wanted to get both of his boys more exposure playing 4A instead of 1A. There may have been money issues but those boys had been at LCA for a long time. He deserved to sit out a year. Can't anyone say they are transferring for academic reasons or financial hardship?
  7. Although I have read statements that speak against camps as the way to go, what are some of the stronger individual camps in the area? Not places where players get lost in the shuffle but where they walk away with new drills, encouragment, friends, mentors and more.
  8. I know we've all heard it before but Michael Jordan got cut his sophomore season in high school. I realize kids are maturing faster (so people think) and everything else but these guys are just 15 or 16 years old. It's fun to speculate but I have a pretty good feeling that there will be 5-10 new players that we're talking about in 2-3 years and 5-10 of these guys will just be marginal. They all have plenty of growth and maturing ahead not to mention the stress of playing up to so many people's crazy expectations.
  9. JP Blevins is offering a camp this summer that will have low coach to camper ratios, be very intentional about getting to know each camper and he has already recruited several area high school coaches and former college players to work the camp. You can get more information at http://www.gettheedgebasketball.com. There is a morning camp for 6-11 and afternoon camp for 12-17. The price is also very affordable and promises to be a great camp. My son will be there and we are counting on a great week of instruction and fun.
  10. All previous mentioned will for sure and also Dunnagan (Wayne Co.), Travis Purvis (GRC), Cabot Haggin (Sayre, started last year a lot), Taylor Martin and Daniel DeLuca (LexCath, will get plenty of mins). Robbie Barber is 2011 but 2010 age - his school is yet to be determined as he is doubtful to return to Rose Hill.
  11. Explanation for things done and said in connection with transfer.
  12. Fucci is a tremendous guard for a FROSH and the son of Dom Fucci. Barksdale is a great PF, maybe C one day for a FROSH. Breeden will bring tough practices, strict discipline and a winning attitude. They have the talent at Creek in the student body but will they be willing to work the way Breeden wants. The two guys mentioned previously will give what it takes.
  13. There has not been a decision handed down. The letter was just delivered in reference to Euton.
  14. Can't offer much but Scott Co. just received notice to supply information and explanation for several things. They will find a way to slide through more than likely but those cases are anything but closed.
  15. It is fairly obvious that Jackson followed Euton to Scott Co. He moved to play with him at Rose Hill in Middle School. It's the case of 2 friends wanting to play together. It's up to the KHSAA to determine whether or not the reasons and process is legit. Scott Co. was not the only school they considered transferring to and this is not the first year they have considered leaving Rose Hill.
  16. The ICE are a great team and play that way on the floor. Players do not complain when they don't get enough shots or score enough points. Their scoring is typically fairly balanced - you might have one big scorer but there is still balance. The number of times that 2 players have scored 75% of their points is probably limited to one game. Team play comes from passing, playing team defense, having fun and being unselfish. All of this comes from finding players that fit that mold. The ICE have been criticized for not going after certain players. However, having a good time, being a good sport and playing team basketball are the keys looked for in a player (along with strong talent). The ICE have always worked on the fundamentals. Their teams have always been complimented for fundamental and team play. Gym space is critical but so is finding players that are dedicated and willing to show up to practice. Players are already overcommitted and short on time. Many feel they can just show up and play. It makes it tough for coaches. One other thought on coaches - there are few good coaches in the AAU ranks. There are too many parents and guys that "think" they can coach involved in AAU. That, however, falls on the players' parents to monitor and judge.
  17. There is not a rule like that. There is currently an agreement between LCA and public schools that if a player transfers after they have entered the 7th grade, the player will sit out one year. No official KHSAA rule for pub/priv though. His case is in appeals and they are awaiting a ruling. Obviously, speculation about future dominance is just that. However, it will be interesting to see how these players grow and mature over the next 3 years. There could very well be a new stud emerge in KY by 2011.
  18. All 4 are good players. Wilder shoots pretty well with Schuette guarding him - at least he did on Sunday. They had a great battle going on. Barnette (2012) did a really nice job defending Gilbert in the 4th quarter after Gilbert had scored several quick baskets. With Kimbro leaving the state, Stenzel and Fucci are the best in the class of 2011 with Wilder, Schuette, Martin and Gilbert close behind. It will be great to see how these guys develop over the next 3 years.
  19. Just some thoughts on the team and weekend: - The ICE are an incredible team. They play together (practiced twice as a total team) and have fun doing it. They are fundamental and know the game. Until this year, I have never heard points scored come up in discussion. Every one of these guys contributes to the team. - Fucci turns 16 in September. He is one of the 3 best FROSH in the state - Wilder can flat out shoot the rock and will be a strong player in the state for the next 3 years. - Purvis has made huge strides in the last 2 years, along with great inside play from Kiesling. - Helton and Barnette are both strong guards that will contribute significantly at LCA in the years to come. - Martin and DeLuca are great players in a great system at LexCath. It will be great to see how they do in the years to come with Schuette and others over there. - Shotwell is back at Scott Co and will definitely make some noise up there. - The ICE were also without Haggin from Sayre, who is a strong guard but had baseball commitments this Spring. - If the fouls were 20-4 in the 2nd half, 3 of the 20 were techs and there were at least 7-8 in the last 2 minutes. The refs did not cost or give anyone that championship. The Shining Stars coach lost complete control of his mouth on a questionable play. The ICE were in control of the game at that point but he didn't seem to help much. - These guys will hopefully make some noise at Nationals in July.
