Fern Creek has an 8th grader playing with them in the Louisville Summer league. Watched them play Male tonight.

Taylor Martin of LexCath is D1 talent and will be worth watching. He already has one offer from a D1 school. He and Beckham will be a great tandem along with Schuette and others next year.

Is this event hosted at Louisville Manual? If not, did it used to be?

That's a lot of talent. The majority of these kids will play at the next level.

Looks like some good teams are involved in this event; should be a weekend of watching some exciting games. Good luck to all the teams!

I think you need to add Tim henderson From Christian Academy

Yes, you're thinking of the right one.

It used to be held at a sports complex in Louisville, too. Similar to a "Sports of All Sorts" in NKY, although I can't remember the name of the complex.

Congrats to Eastern on winning the Derek Smith Shootout. They will be tough to beat next year!

What players impressed you at this event?

Tim Henderson with CAL was really impressive against Warren Central. He is pretty talented with some really good hops.

What are your thoughts?

Eastern is definitely the team to beat. Especially when they get the big football player back.

I was impressed with CAL. I watched the Warren Central game and the PRP game and CAL very well could have ended up in the final four. I was also impressed with Henderson. He is really athletic. I was also impressed the Colin Lopez. He also played well against WC and PRP really had trouble keeping him in front. He seems to do alot of things for them....just a very good basketball player. CAL also had some other players I don't know. Very quick point guard. How deep is the 7th region?????

Some other players I was impressed with....Samsel from Manual, played very well the game I saw. Can really handle the ball....

Maddox from Seneca....doesn't seem to get alot of attention, but he looked very good to me.

Everyone from Eastern...they are loaded. Ballard looks very good as well....very athletic.

For what it's worth...I wish more teams from the 8th would play in this (like South Oldham) so we can see how they compare against teams from the 7th.

Your observations are spot on. Ballard will give Eastern a run for their money on athleticism alone. Samsel also surpises people with his speed and quickness. There aren't too many guards that can stop him bringing the ball up court. Markell Carter from PRP is an underated player in my view. He is the player that made the difference against Austin, Indiana. Chane Behanan with BG is a player to be reckoned with. Very impressive big man!

Scott Schuette should be mentioned as one of the top players. He has had a great summer and will really emerge as one of the top scorers for Lex Cath with the graduation of Vee Sanford.

Good player, but D1 talent?????? Who has offered?

Behanan is going to be a load for ANYONE in the state over the next two years. IMO he will be KY Mr. Basketball in 2011 and is easily the best player for that class.

I saw him for the first time against Central this weekend and he is the real deal. The Fant kid is good too, but I think Behanan is better away from the basket. Both are big time.

Behanan's strength is what makes him so tough to defend and score on and what separates him from the players like Fant, Zollo, and Knipp.
