Unless I have missed something on the boards, this hasn't been mentioned. Gene Kirk has decided to retire as the head basketball coach at Sayre School. Ted Hall, the current assistant coach, will be his replacement (and a darn good one, too). I realize this is a Sayre team that is down in talent but they still have some strong players and Coach Hall will get the best out of them. Congrats, Coach Hall.

If this is true, Ted will be a great replacement and has been Gene's assistant for a number of years.

Coach Kirk did an excellent job at Sayre winning many games with far less talent. I am sure Kentucky High School basketball will miss him.

Is coach hall from the Ashland area?

Ted is a great guy and a hard worker. He understands the way Sayre works and will do a great job for them. Congrats to a guy who has paid his due and waited his turn.

Very true about Coach Hall. He has definitely earned this and he is originally from the Ashland area.

This is official even though Sayre and Ted Hall aren't getting much respect from the Herald Leader. He will do a great job with the Spartans. Kirk will be missed but he has also been grooming hall well.

Anyone who likes quality coaching will miss Gene Kirk from the ranks. Congrats to Coach Hall, who will do fine, and always keep one eye out for ole Bill Hill, the solid, if not spectacular, AD who is a good one.

Coach Kirk Did a great Job and Ted is the best fit for a replacement. Sayre wont have much depth this year, but give them another season or two and they could be a suprise team.
