  1. Coaches need many strategies to make a team successful. If he stays I guess we will have to see how well the "system of run and gun" works with the younger players. These are good kids. For their sake I hope it works out and BC is competitive again. By the way, you never did say who the "top" was.
  2. The "run and gun" didn't quite go according to plan. Sometimes you have to get a system that fits your players and not try and fit you players into a system. Good Coaches make the necessary adjustments. Who is the top you mentioned?
  3. The team started with seven seniors. Ended up with two. One experienced senior player was cut before the season started. Who is the top that you are talking about?
  4. It was a very bad year. Worst ever for Boyd County. Very hard to watch. I didn't know if he was coming back or leaving. Do the Boyd County fans and players need to go through more of the same?
  5. The head coach does not nominate, he or she picks who they want on the all tournament team in the distict in the 63rd and 64th districts.
  6. I believe in the 63rd and the 64th district the selections are made by the head coach.
  7. I do believe Greenup's short lived coach tried this approach last year.
  8. Mr. Wooten added this game to the BC schedule after taking the head coaching position. He should have known what he was getting into. I really don't know how productive this contest was for either team. From some of the post, I gather some people feel Elliott Co. ran up the score. Guess what guys......other teams don't have to be "nice" to BC because they are having a "down" year. Elliott showed class tonight by not playing their starters a whole lot. They, nor any other team, should feel obligated to do this.
  9. If BC continues doing the same thing they have for the past few games I think the results will be the same in the future. Adjustments need to be made in games and practices in order to get better, so far I have not seen proper adjustments being made. Congrats to Elliott Co. tonight.
  10. From what I understand, this game was not on the orginal Boyd Co. schedule and that it was added by Mr. Wooten. I hope he has the team properly prepared for the game. Best of luck to both teams.
  11. I have no idea why they ND did not show up. I am wondering if a contract was signed (?).
  12. Fairview beat Chesapeake then the team Boyd should have played didn't show so Boyd played Cheasapeake as well. Cheaspeake beat Boyd by 30 or so.
  13. I was at the Red/White game.......Elliott will be challenge. The big kid is a senior football player. I don't know if he will be on the bench this year or not, really haven't heard one way or the other.
  14. I stand corrected. It was more than one freshmen, not just this one.
  15. I just hope the 16th can make a lot of noise at the Sweet 16!
  16. It is not the fault of the senior the BC program has had 3 coaches in 3 years. His presence will be missed as Mr. Wooten looks down the bench to put someone in. The player was a "team player, great kid" , not a hinderance. He also was one of the few returning players with varsity playing experience. I do believe Trey has much to offer, he will just have to learn on the job about ballgame coaching which is much different than individual instruction or conditioning. This will take time. Once again BC is in the "rebuilding" stage. For the sake of all I hope it goes well.
  17. The player he cut was one of the few players with experience returning and had totally dedicated himself to the program over the years and had improved immensely. This player has a life connection to one of the coaches (this coach having many years of dedicated experience coaching at BC) Mr. Wooten did not want back on the staff. Sour grapes, no! Politics, yes! For things to move forward in a positive direction a lot of things need to improve. Take politics out, hire the most qualified staff (Is Max Hunter still coaching?), have organized/focused practices, make sure the elementary league is run effectively.
  18. Davey Wooten, the freshmen coach, now varsity coach is the only returning coach from last year. The other new coaches are Trey Parsons (trained CD, great guy just not experienced in game/practice coaching) and Max Hunter.
  19. The first thing they need to do is take politics out of it. Coach Wooten just cut a senior player, great kid, and one of the best returning players. Sad day for this family and the program. The second thing is they need to do is stop scrimmaging people from the community and start working on set practices more. They also need to secure experienced/qualified coaches. None on the staff right now have head varsity experience and only limited middle school/freshmen experience including the head coach. They really need someone in there to help guide them more. Speed and size are issues, don't know what to say about that. The kids on the team are good kids and are willing to work. Just have to wait and see what happens.
  20. Coach Wooten cut a senior player this week that had dedicated himself to the BCHS basketball program and had improved immensely over the years. He had put this player in a leadership role this summer.....why the change of heart now? This young man is a great kid, solid student, and a positive role model along with being one of the BEST returning players. From what I understand Mr. Wooten's excuse was that a freshmen was better......that same freshmen is kin to someone high up at the high school. For the sake of the program I hope somebody steps up to the plate and gets a handle on things. The kids, parents, and community deserve a fair and quality program.
  21. Good luck Coach. You have earned this position!
