Good game. Madison was a very big team, and had some players offensivly. As for Highlands, everything seems to be working for them. I was impressed with Head's running tonight, he seems to have gotten alot better this year. Guidugli has one of the best arms I have seen for a QB this year, and Collinsworth just makes plays on both sides of the ball. Even his block he had on Buten's TD reception was good. The defense is playing hard nose football and hits harder than any other team in 5A. It says something when you hold a team with as much talent as Madison had on the field tonight to 0 points. Great Job Birds, Keep up the hardwork and good luck the rest of the way.

This is such a tough question, because each sport(out of the 3 major; baseball, basketball, football) produce so many amazing athletes. Its tough to say which sport has the "best" athletes. To me, I think the top athlete in each sport would be as of now.. Baseball- Alex Rodriquez Basketball- Lebron James Football- Randy Moss As for all time, I would say Bo Jackson. And he played football and baseball. But all around I think the Nba has the best athletes as a whole, just because of the way they are reguired to be built, and the style of the game these days.

Didnt Dixie beat Highlands frosh pretty good? Will they be in the championship this year? I think its a very good sign of things to come, when you are knocking off the Highlands frosh team by some 30 points.

I agree, I see him quite often working out, and he is in there benching over 300lbs, and works harder than any other person in the gym. I would imagine he has alot of power with the swing and can zip the ball in there pretty good, but as OG said, mentally sometimes he has his struggles, and i think thats the point in his game that is holding him back from being a great player every game.

Ok CCH. I know exactly what school you are talking about, and I know exactly the players you are talking about. But besides the point, you are saying the coach should put the 5 best players in the school out on the floor, the talent that could potentially be on the floor but isnt because of coaching. These are very funny comments to me, playing freshman year and then coming out your senior year without playing for the last 2 years is pretty hard to adjust to. Just because a player dominates in your "IBL" league doesnt mean they are one of the top 5 players in the school. Its a much different game, playing High School then it is in pickup games or Intramural Leagues. As for the coach doing what he did, I dont blame him, because I know one of the players didnt even start or really contribute on the freshman team his freshman year. So do you honestly think that he is just going to let you guys come out and practice with the rest of the team? Maybe if this was Shaq we were talking about here, but its not, the coach is obviously testing the commitment, or doesnt want any interferences with the rest of his team.

Ok. Rollers size and strength is better, but Van Sant speed is better. I think offensivly Roller is better because he has someone who can actually get him the ball. Defensivly, I'd say VanSant probably has better numbers because it seems to me he is the only player on that defense that is making plays. However CovCath has allowed way too many points and yards this year, which makes it hard to give anyone credit. Both are good athletes, but overall I am going with Roller as being an overall better player.

Agree with it moving in the right direction, I know some of the players are working really hard in the weight room, and they need someone to promote that throughout the whole program, not just a few players.

Guidugli is the best QB hands down. Not only does he have the best stats, but he is actually playing in better competition than West, and has the best size and speed for any Qb around here. Isler.. not the best candidate I dont think he is even in the top 5.

I think alot of it is arrogance. In any case, not just Collinsworth. If a team has a very good kick returner the opposing team wont respect it. Because it sends a message to your team that were not good enough to stop this guy, so we will take the penalty instead of proving that our team is good enough to stop him. As far as punting though, I just think that High School punters arent good enough to be able to pinpoint the football away from the returner.

Folks I would guarentee Jeremy is going to be the headcoach, its just a matter of time. My only question is I thought to be a headcoach at a school you also had to be a teacher at a school, whether its the same school or not. Could someone clarify this rule for me, because Im not sure it could just be a pattern that headcoaches are also teachers..?

Oh. Well I didnt attend the game but from what I read in the paper, it said CovCath didnt cross midfield till the fourth quarter, which was probably against Elders 2nd team I would assume. Also against Highlands I dont even remember CovCath crossing midfield the entire game. Im sure the same happened against Cardinal Mon. also.

Yeah but CCH hasnt shown any signs of success against any of the big teams. Its one thing to schedule the good teams and give them a run for the money, or execute in certain areas. But CovCath has been blown out everytime, and really havent shown anything. All that does is affect the players chemistry and minds, because wheres the fun when you are coming out and being beat 40-0 every night?

I really like Holmes lineup this year, talent wise they are very good, but what amazed me last year was their discipline and ability to play together. I honestly think Holmes lineup when they had Rice, Hill, Jefferson, Henderson, Edmunson(sp), was more talented, but this years team just plays together so well and thats what their previous team didnt do.

Wow this is a bit of a stretch man. I have seen this kid catch and he is not mobile behind the plate, he does have a good arm but he is not a catcher. Apparently if he is the second best catcher in nky, dont you think Krumpelbeck would give Maile a couple breaks in those double header games or complete blowout games? I think anybody that is associated with CovCath is a stud to you, I can tolerate the talk about Maile or some of these players(even Isler, as a pitcher or hitter) but what you are saying about him as a catcher is a huge strectch. So anyway, as far as new starters go, I beleive NewCaths senior class will have some decent ballplayers that didnt see much time last year as juniors. Also Beechwood, HolyCross, and Highlands will have some good athletes. Right now Covcath returns the most on paper but as far as im concerned NewCath is the team to beat until somebody else wins that regional title.

I can reason with the fact that Brossart may not be the "right coach" for CovCath. However i wouldnt blame him for the way his team performs. The talent he has just isnt anywhere near the talent as the teams they have lost to so far. I can understand the coaching effecting a couple of misread plays or various substitutions, but in High School if you have the talented players they will make the plays on the field. Obviously there is miscommunications or team issues within CovCaths locker room. Whether the players like the guy or not, they need to step up and play their game.

I wouldnt consider them the dominant athletic program in all of Nky. They are good and usually around the top, but Id say Highlands dominants football, Holmes dominants basketball, and baseball CovCath hasnt won a region in the last 4 years, they may have been in the finals but it doesnt mean anything unless you win the region in order to be called the most dominant in Nky. I just dont see where being the dominant athletic program in Nky falls into place?

Who cares about the student section, lets see what they do on the football field. :thumb:

I personally think Covcath will have decent talent, but not enough to compete for a regional title this year. They will be very unexperienced with the exception of Shover. I just dont think they will be able to compete with Holmes, Boone, and Highlands. But they are strong and well coached every year so they will be as good as the talent can take them.

I really dont see CovCath coming close to beating Highlands in the playoffs. Of anything it will be worse than it was last night because the Highlands players will be more motivated considering its the playoffs, and their last game agasint CovCath for the seniors. Sorry Oldguy but Covcath isnt anywhere near Highlands talent wise this year. They just dont have weapons like Highlands does, we are talking about a team that played last night without their 2 starting running backs, and if the starters played the whole game i think they could have beat CCH by 90. Imagine what Highlands will do to CovCath when they have Conner and Crawford to go along with Head and Fennel in the backfield. To even think that Covcath can beat Highlands after last night's showing is pretty embarssing.
