They do have a great team...they beat us (GRC) but Madison Central will finish 2nd in our district....behind Scott Co.

And I'm not going to start razzing Boom, until we hear that nobody got hurt up there during the "misfire." But then....let the games begin.

I think so.

67 was a big boy and went both ways. He was tired in the 2nd half and could barely get out of his stance. They were fast and big but still couldn't find the endzone. The birds defense looked very good tonight. Guidugli could really have padded those stats if he could have gotten some more air under 2 throws that were potential scores. Collinsworth just keeps getting better each week. Roller played like a stud at linebacker and kory rosenhagen and Adam Dempsey had great defensive efforts. How about buten's 99 yard tc reception? That was a beauty!

 

Everyone played great as it was a team victory.

Good game. Madison was a very big team, and had some players offensivly. As for Highlands, everything seems to be working for them. I was impressed with Head's running tonight, he seems to have gotten alot better this year. Guidugli has one of the best arms I have seen for a QB this year, and Collinsworth just makes plays on both sides of the ball. Even his block he had on Buten's TD reception was good. The defense is playing hard nose football and hits harder than any other team in 5A. It says something when you hold a team with as much talent as Madison had on the field tonight to 0 points.

The Birds came to play after the Bye-Week. The best D1 performances came from the Birds. Adam Dempsey, an All-State candidate, dominated on both offense and defense. Kody Rosenhagen proved to be a handful leading the defensive charge with a huge goal line stand. Big sacks from Dempsey, Rosenhagen, Martin, Newman, Laber. Offense was not out done with huge carries by Crawford, Head, Fennell. Austin Collinsworth is the best on defense and caught for clutch gains. Nick Buten must now hold the record with a 99.999-yard TD pass from Tony Guidugli.

 

Birds played up and brought their 6A game.

Highlands is the best high school team I've seen this year.

 

Glad nobody got hurt on the mis-fire. I'm also glad my heart is strong, because that scared the crap right out me. I wasn't expecting it. I wasn't expecting the blast before the game started either and I was walking right under it when it went off.

Highlands keeps on rolling. Spoke with someone after the game and from what I gathered, this was a complete TEAM effort by the Birds both offensively and defensively. Rosie, Dempsey, and Roller played like madmen on the defensive side and TG to Collinsworth is still the prettiest hook up around these here parts.

The above post are very accurate imho. This is the first time that my "football watching partner" and I have ever seen a team that was so obviously talented get beat so badly and yet give the impression that they will be a force down the road. I do disagree with the statemant about the UK recruit playing both ways. He only played defense on goal line stands and there were few of those. He did not look that tired to me at the end of the game. He tended to get a decent push and Highlands came in behind him and made the stop in the hole.

Collinsworth did not make a block on the 99 yard td.....he made 2 separate blocks 5 yards apart. I hope that some of you who did not attend the game get an opportunity to see this play. It happened 50 yards down field. Buten had been caught from behind and reversed field to pick up the block. Collinsworth blocked the first tackler and had the football sense to merely do what was necessary to to impede the tackler's progress and then he switched to the other trailing tackler and bumped him. He played a super game (and I don't toss that phrase around often) on both sides of the ball. His touchdown saving tackles on long runs were key to the shut out.

The birds do have some cleaning up to do as they were charged with numerous offensive penalties and their extra point center to holder was off the mark.

Our crowd is Beechwood-Highlands fans depending on who has the best match-up.
