Oddly enough, we have an Austin Collinsworth (#22) AND an Austin Hollinsworth (#48). If the roster is accurate, there is no "g" in either last name.

It is Hollingsworth, his dad is president of the Ft Thomas Jr Football League.

Halloween 1 Bluebirds 0!! I have never seen a game in which there were zero kids under the age of 14. I thought the birds looked good. But I'm taken back by the attendance.

 

In addition to Halloween, apparently an announcement was made at all schools (including the elementary schools) that kids would need to find a seat and would not be allowed to "run around" at the game. The point was emphasized as my 7th grader skipped the game because of it. Not sure if some shenanigans at prior games escalated into injuries or complaints or what the reason was.

I can tell you there was a boy who a couple years ago had a prank pulled on him where one kid pushes the other over the kid on all fours. He broke his wrist and couldnt play the entire JR Ftball league season. Maybe they need to change the fundraising product to something other than Krispy kreme boxes. Pure sugar and immature 7th graders just dont mix very well. LOL

I don't know how it is in the endzones, but at the last game (and many others) there was mass chaos going on behind us in the area of the girls' restroom. It becomes a gathering place for the middle school age girls...which means the the middle school age boys aren't far behind. It got pretty crazy, and one of the school officials ended up going back there and clearing out about 100 kids. Maybe that had a role in the decision.

My 6th grade daughter wanted no part of going to the game because of this. Grade school/middle school kids have been running around at the games acting like.....well......kids for a very long time. That is part of the appeal. By the time they get to 8th grade they usually sit in the north end-zone bleachers. By the time they get to high school they move up to the stands.

 

I really think this will reduce the number of kids that go to the games. That will have a lasting effect because if they don't start coming as youngsters, not as many will go when they get to the high school. It may keep kids from playing because if they don't go to the games and learn to idolize the latest version of Jared/Derek etc. they may just stick with soccer.

Definitely not a very good idea.

 

This was similar to the very bad idea to banish all the fans (most of them ex-football players) from the ramp. I think they served as a great inspiration and motivation to the players.
