My 6th grade daughter wanted no part of going to the game because of this. Grade school/middle school kids have been running around at the games acting like.....well......kids for a very long time. That is part of the appeal. By the time they get to 8th grade they usually sit in the north end-zone bleachers. By the time they get to high school they move up to the stands.

 

I really think this will reduce the number of kids that go to the games. That will have a lasting effect because if they don't start coming as youngsters, not as many will go when they get to the high school. It may keep kids from playing because if they don't go to the games and learn to idolize the latest version of Jared/Derek etc. they may just stick with soccer.

 

Some people actually go to the game to watch football. I have been in the grandstands,and people let there kids do whatever they want.If the KIDS are not mature enough to watch the game,the parents should take care of the problem and not let them disturb every one else who is trying to watch the game. Maybe they SHOULD have a designated area (like the endzones) for anyone that doesnt want to watch the game. I dont purchase a ticket to watch somebodys kid be a brat. JMO:flame:

Seriously though, I agree that the kids get unruly. I have had to break up a few fights in the north end zone over the years. Which is where most of the young kids hang out. I find it a little annoying to try to walk through them to get to my seat but...... I think it is far more important that they come to the games and think of it as fun and want to come and become fans than to regulate them to not want to come and lose them possibly for forever.

 

I am not saying that they should be left to go crazy or anything. Just that they shouldn't have to be told that if they come to the games they have to sit in the stands the whole time.

 

This was similar to the very bad idea to banish all the fans (most of them ex-football players) from the ramp. I think they served as a great inspiration and motivation to the players.

 

This was bad too . A few more edicts and the stands the attendance at the Madison Central game could look good by comparison.

I haven't noticed that the rail was closed this year. I don't think it was during the Madison Central game. Last year I remember a white gate. Haven't noticed that this year.

No, they've been a little more relaxed about it this year; and I think that is a good thing. We had several UC students standing there this past Friday.

Like you mentioned earlier BF about the 100 or so teenagers. Heaven forbid those 100 or so teenagers that are only steps away decide to hang out there and really become a nuisance to everyone and especailly the team and coaches.

 

I think it's a good idea to keep it closed. Heck there is plenty of seating in the stands. Besides it looks better to our team when the stands are full.
