Who is the best in the NKY?

Dan Hammons. He'll be on a terrible team though so you wont hear much of him.

Well the top player in the area is UK commit Luke Maile. After that it it can go in alot of directions as to who is best.

I think CovCath has quite a few of the best players up here this year with Maile, Isler, Nutini and Darner. Murray at Scott also is a good ball player.

I would have to say #3 From Pendleton County hes pretty good.

Personally I have always thought that Brandon Nutini has always been looked over and is an extremely underrated player in NKY.

 

He does a lot of the small things that not many players (even the good ones) do.

 

The kid has a very strong arm which is always a plus in baseball. That being said though you can have a strong arm but not be very accurate with it. This is not the case with Nutini. I've seen him throw runners out consistently from the outfield both in high school and summer baseball.

 

He has got a pretty good bat too. He seems to perform better in the summer season than in high school. That may be attributed to the fact he is playing at higher level in the summer and so he performs better than in a lower level high school season.

 

Nutini is also very vast for his size (I believe he is around 6') as he runs a little less than 7 seconds in the 60 yard dash (this was done during running times for the Kentucky Colonels). He uses that speed and his good use of a glove to track down many of the balls in the outfield. I think Nutini is a version of Cody Elliot from Beechwood.

 

If you ask me he has the tools to be a success at the college level and I believe he is a legit D-1 talent.

You are going to laugh when I tell you why I think Nutini does better in the summer than in the HS games, but here it is....

 

He hates and I mean he hates cold weather! The warmer it is outside the more he likes it and the better he performs!

Hunter Jones - Bellevue. After Maile, this is the only other athlete that is looking to get drafted out of HS and he is only a Jr.

Hunter Jones is very good I agree. He actually got some playing time with Midland Redskins with Farris, etc.

 

I think he will be drafted his senior year from what I've heard.

I haven't heard with Maile being a UK recruit is he looking to play it out like Farris did? If they don't offer a certain amount he is playing for the Cats? I really think that hurt his draft position horribly.

No Maile has already committed to UK. I had regular contact with them over the summer and I also recieved the email from his parents when he announced his commitment. Maile has every intention of attending UK next year.

 

Maile will be drafted but he won't be drafted high enough to pull him away from college. Take this into consideration. Generally if you aren't drafted in the first 10 rounds or so its more than likely you won't make the minor league roster. It would be better for him to go to college, work on his skills, and improve his draft position there.

 

His draft position won't be hurt at all.

After that there much debate to be had to determine who is better than the others so I'll leave that portion out for now.
