Picking them over Kelly based on what, just asking becasue I can tell you this I bet there offensive numbers aren't thta far off. I would say none of them have the arm Kelly has.

Darner plays great defense, be it 3rd base or right field. He too has a great arm, slightly hampered last season by injury. When it comes to game-on-the-line situations, he always finds a way to get it done. This kid is clutch. Another thing is his leadership, he gets everyone in the dugout fired up.

 

Nutini has amazing speed, and makes remarkable plays look routine in centerfield. Nutini has a strong and accurate arm, and is one helluva pitcher.

 

Another thing these two guys have are the intangibles of baseball. Also, in comparing stats, IMO covcath plays a more difficult schedule year in and year out.

I've seen the kid play. He doesn't have the greatest arm or bat in the world[/B] but he can flat fly.

 

I remember when tried for the Colonels about a year ago he ran 6.9 60.

 

He rivals the speed of former BW star Cody Elliot but yet Cody was a completely different than him. Cody has run a 6.5 60 time for the Colonels when he last played for them a year ago.

Chas had an absolutely outstanding summer playing for the Bluegrass Chiefs hitting .404 and playing all three outfield positions. He showed great speed and tracked the ball very well. He also showed a better arm than expected throwing out three players at the plate. All this as a junior at the 18U select level. He should have a more than solid senior season by those standards.

NewCath plays a great schedule as well, not sure if you were at the regional final last year, so if you want talk clutch, Kelly hit a 3 run triple over CovCath's centerfielder to put NewCath up by 4 runs. Not to mention he is a very good catcher. All I am saying is he needs to be in with the group of players who are the tops in NKY.

Is Murray St. d1 or d2? congrats to him. Is Murray st. a baseball school or not. Never heard of this school?

 

I'm suprised if you haven't heard of the school, I thinkn most have...

I'm not saying he doesn't have his moments, all players do. I'm just commenting on what I have seen from him. I have seen him during the Colonels tryouts and I have seen him play fall ball as well and I'm just telling you what I had seen about Hyde, no more no less.

I think he has hit well over 350 the past two seasons, but he has incredible speed you are correct.

I'm not going to deny that he is a top player, but I will say he is not top three.

 

As far as schedules go, Cov Cath played an unquestionably more difficult schedule, with the like of LexCath, LCA, Henry Clay, West Jessamine, George Rogers Clark, and state-runner up Lawrence Co.

 

Outside of shared competition in NKY on NCC's schedule I see Harrison Co. and that's about it as far as high caliber opponents

 

While we're talking clutch, how bout Darner's 10th inning walk-off hit vs. Dixie.

Yes you make a good point and I do agree. I haven't seen him in quite some time so maybe I just a got a bad impression and when I saw him. Any schools looking at him?

You have to put Kelly in the top 3, he was voted as one of the best Juniors in the state last year and got invited to the junior allstar game with Maile, not sure if anyone else in NKY did with those 2.

This is not to be smart or offend anyone, but who is Hammonds, and where does he play. I'm sure once I'm told the first name and school I will say DUH to myself, but..?

 

I would not put Jones in my top, because frankly I have never been impressed. He must have some standout games when I don't see him lol. Hopefully I'll get to see a healthy Jones this year as I heard he was not at full ability last season.

 

I would also add, Murray out at Scott. Good kid, good ballplayer, and Scott will depend on him this year I think. Other than that I agree.

Murray will have to carry the team this year for the most part but he will get some support from the likes of Taylor Smith and Zach Sowders.

 

He had a great supporting cast around him last year so he was able to excel because most pitchers last year tried to work around Adams if they could and thus EJ saw more pitches. Now EJ will be in Adams shoes as pitchers will try to work around him to get to the other batters. That being said, I think EJ is up to the challenge and I think he will have a very good year.
