I know NewCath plays a lot of teams form Cincinnati.

I guess the spring will tell us who are the top players in NKY.

Talk, lanky and around 6'-5". Is he a Senior this year, as I thought he was in '08?

I'll leave it to theoldguy to throw some stats at you.

 

Darner plays great defense, be it 3rd base or right field. He too has a great arm, slightly hampered last season by injury. When it comes to game-on-the-line situations, he always finds a way to get it done. This kid is clutch. Another thing is his leadership, he gets everyone in the dugout fired up.

 

Nutini has amazing speed, and makes remarkable plays look routine in centerfield. Nutini has a strong and accurate arm, and is one helluva pitcher.

 

Another thing these two guys have are the intangibles of baseball. Also, in comparing stats, IMO covcath plays a more difficult schedule year in and year out.

Darner had as many hits in 08 as Maile had in 07! Each had 53 hits, and Darner had as many double as Maile did in 08! Each had 13.

 

RD can hit and has a gun for a arm, some college is really missing the boat by not signing RD.... Just doesn't make sense.....

Impressive stats...I agree he is a solid ballplayer who maybe has been overlooked a bit because of his surrounding cast. If he posts those kinds of numbers in 09 he wont be overlooked anymore.:thumb:

Eh I think Maile, Isler, and Darner get a lot of attention. I think Nutini is the most overlooked of them all. But they all are pretty recognized and respected.

Yeah I was talking more about high school season. Darner got more mention during HS and in the summer it was all Nute.

Hunter Jones - Bellevue. After Maile, this is the only other athlete that is looking to get drafted out of HS and he is only a Jr.

 

I've seen this kid play and I'm not impressed as far as "top ten" goes. Sure, he's good, but I haven't seen where he STANDS OUT in the crowd. Granted, baseball is one of those "who you know" type sports and yes, that should lead to some offers, maybe even Loyola. He's young and I would like to see him make his way in the region. As far as top ten goes, I think he has to prove it.

 

He sure has a nice cast to work with though.

Even though he wont get much mention on here, James Jones from Dayton gets a recognition.

 

I agree griz, but you and I both know, he's got a lot of things to work on. I really like the kid.
