I was told he also applied to Dixie last year. So this statement would not hold. And do not under estimate the returning players.

That 78 team had like 6 lost's that year, half of them to Holmes. Lost to a hot shooting Kurt Kool (sp) of Lloyd in regional semi's Was also on Coach Krump's first CovCath team.

Cooper defense was part of the poor shooting, but not all of it. CovCath had a lot good looks, but the shoots where just short. CovCath had a bad not shooting, even at the line, at one point they where 2-7 in a close game at the time.

Shoot 35% you are not going to win many games, but against a good team not at all. CovCath shots where short all night. And not having Nick F. for 3 qrts did not help. Collins #31 had a great night, it seemed that if he got it to the rim, it went in.

Because we have kids who are 6'-1"- 6'3" and do not fit into the D1 box.

Man I have no idea want you are talking about. Conner deserved the win, they played with a mission. CovCath had a bad night, and that all I have seen posted here. The sloppy field affected CovCath more for this is only the second game they played on grass and in the rain. I disagree that CovCath does not have a running game, CovCath had a good night running the ball in the second half. They started the second half with a 7 minute drive almost all runs that did finish with a pass. The second TD drive was I believe almost all runs, including the 2pt conversion which was good. I was stand on the goal line and Bir was at least a half yard in the end zone before being pushed back. The refs did not make the call until after the play was blown dead, and then they talked about it. Also the ref did not need to inject any body and that goes for the Conner kid who threw the ball. They just could have warned both coaches, by the way the Conner coaches ran across the field which I believe is a violation. But in the end Conner made plays when it counted and CovCath did not. Good win for Conner, and good luck in the playoffs.

Coach Wirth has stated a couple of times that he does not believe in playing freshman at the varsity level. he feels it is better for them to develop as a team as freshmen. He does however have a couple of freshman, usually the quarterbacks, but the last couple of years has included others who dress for varsity. These freshman do not practice with the varsity until the freshman season is over. Now that the freshman are done, he will bring a handful of other up to continue practicing. They may or may not dress for games, last year he brought up about 10 kids. This has been a tradition at CovCath since the 70's, except when Rottenberg was coach.

Once again poor tackling hurt CovCath in the second half. Highlands last TD, covCath had the back stop for no gain, but like all Highlands backs never stop, CovCath does not wrap up and a long TD run.

I have talked to a couple people at Ryle and they think it is very helpful to lineman. from what they tell me, it helps with foot work. I personally think it can be worked into winter workouts.
