I will say, to your point about Art Briles: 1. beat West Virginia and you don't have this issue and 2. your conference did as much to hurt you as it did in an attempt to help you- tell Bowlsby that you want the conference to develop and stick with a mechanism to break ties for conference titles or, better yet, add two teams to your conference and get a title game.

What would be the goal of returning to the old bowl system? We have great and meaningful games on New Years and we also have a mechanism for deciding a National Champion. I think, even with the warts of the BCS and the current playoff, the progression of systems have been a vast improvement.

There are between 220-245 schools playing 5A football in Texas. There are between 200-220 in class 2A, 3A and 4A. There are five classes and this doesn't include the seperate classes for private school and the Six-man football teams.

Not as high profile, but I love making it in to watch East Carter play West Carter in anything!

Multiple 50 so I will go both over and under. Depends on our keys from film study- we get a strong side key or a tendency or if we know we can force an audible that we like, we'll go over. Also need to look at field vs. boundary runs- may cause us to flip flop between over/under front as well.

If it is a team like a double wing or slot t where they are run 90% of their plays, I would run a gap 8 defense. If it is a team that has more balance, I would go with a multiple 50 defense to give me flexibility to attack the run game.

It helps when the coach is in the building. It helps when you can get teachers to be assistants as well.

Katy lost the 5A division 2 title game to Cedar Hill and got dropped in many rankings because of it. I think Katy beats Coppell this year...JMO.

They are monsters! Aledo is one of the best programs in the country. This year, they are probably the class of 4A (although Denton Guyer might have something to say about that). Definitely a top 5 team in the state. I'd probably put them behind Allen, DeSoto, Cedar Hill and Katy this year (all 5A schools). I would venture to say that all seven of the programs I have mentioned are top 30 teams, nationally. JMO.

I'm going to throw this name out there, too- Jacob Doss. He is a head coach in Florida building a high school program. He has obvious connections to Lex Cath, he is young and hungry and understands the expectations. I'd love to see him get a shot at Catholic (or Lexington Christian, for that matter).

I am a huge proponent for two platooning. There has to be an understanding that you will give a little early on in a season as new starters get used to their position. You can always have certain players that you rotate in on certain situations in a two-way fashion. Of course, the best thing you can do, as a coach, is have good players. :thumb:

In my mind, no. It is great that so many teams get opportunities- I am a fan of giving young people opportunities to experience success. The population of the state still does not justify 6 classes, IMO. No team's success will make me change my mind on this.
