Maybe he's taking the Ryle job

And could Lex Cath be Chuck Smith's next stop? A very high end job to be sought after.....IMO! Lex Cath won't be just hiring anybody.

Coach Bill Letton did resign today. Various reasons. Timing was to maximize time for LexCath to find a replacement. Under Coach Letton the Knights won their second State Championship in 2007. Under Letton the Knights reached the Regional finals every year and were Regional Champions in 2007 and in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Before 2012 the program had never won back-to-back Regional Championships and has now won three in a row, demonstrating the consistency that Letton was able to achieve.

Letton's oldest son, Will, was an assistant on the staff this year. Son Nate is playing at Georgetown and son Sam just completed his sophomore season and is very much on major schools radar as an exceptional tight end. Coach Letton and his wife Lori were constant figures at Lexington Catholic, often the last ones around and helping at events - football or otherwise. They will be missed very much.

This is has come relatively suddenly. No other details are known at this time.

Wow indeed. I cannot wait to get the whole story on this. I will do some digging this weekend and see what I can find out.

I'd go after Chuck Smith ASAP if I am Catholic. Like, I am at his house right now with a blank check and contract.

This is THE opportunity for Catholic. Chuckus Smithus. Better not even be slipping.

At this point I have convinced myself that if Catholic hires anyone else besides Chuck Smith then they aren't serious about winning state titles. It's that simple.

Chuck Smith probably needs more years teaching for KY teacher retirement. I don't think he has 27 years in public schools. If he doesn't, LexCath would not make sense for him.

Chuck doesn't want that job. He HAS to get 3 or 4 more years public retirement.

Maybe he can teach at a nearby school and coach at Catholic?

Congratulations to Coach Letton on a job well done at Lexington Catholic. :thumb:
